Tooth-colored fillings
High-quality composite fillings consist of plastic and ceramic particles. The possible applications of these fillings are comparable to those of amalgam, but unlike amalgam, they do not contain any heavy metals (mercury). Reconstructions with composite allow for tooth-colored and aesthetically pleasing restoration of the tooth in cases of small to medium-sized defects.
Ceramic inlays
Ceramic inlays are manufactured in two treatment steps. At the first appointment, an impression of the tooth is taken after it has been ground down. Based on this impression, the dental laboratory produces a custom-made ceramic filling, which is bonded to the tooth at the second appointment. Ceramic inlays offer excellent aesthetics, a long service life, and the possibility of treating large defects in the tooth without further loss of substance.
Veneers
Veneers are wafer-thin ceramic shells. They are manufactured using the same method as ceramic inlays (see ceramic inlays). However, these veneers only cover the visible parts of the teeth. Discoloration, slight misalignment, unattractive tooth shapes, or gaps between the front teeth can be permanently corrected in a gentle manner with veneers.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of misaligned teeth and jaws. The appliances and devices used for this purpose are commonly referred to as "braces."
In principle, orthodontic treatment is not only possible for children or adolescents. Many adults also suffer from misaligned teeth, which often still require treatment. More than 30% of braces wearers are currently adults. New technologies have made it possible for these appliances to be virtually invisible.
Treatment options:
- Removable braces
- Fixed appliances
- Invisalign
- Incognito surgery
Dental surgery (oral surgery), maxillofacial surgery
We understand that a visit to the maxillofacial surgeon can be a "delicate" matter for you. After all, it's about your natural smile, your healthy chewing function, your expressive face—your very own personal charisma. Thanks to our special qualifications as dual-licensed physicians/dentists and our specialized training as maxillofacial surgeons, as well as our close cooperation with experienced dentists and orthodontists at the dental center, we are very familiar with the complicated anatomy of the face, the complex jaw function, and dental health. We are therefore able to treat the entire spectrum of diseases, injuries, consequences of injuries, malformations, and aesthetic concerns in this sensitive area of the body: Starting with relatively simple dental surgery procedures such as the removal of wisdom teeth, cysts, tongue-lip ties, and infected root tips, to complex operations such as maxillary sinus surgery, bone augmentation, large implant restorations of the entire jaw, and malocclusion corrections (dysgnathia). At our practice, you have the rare opportunity to receive modern dental care and maxillofacial surgery all under one roof. This guarantees short distances, individual solutions, and optimal results. The personality and individual requirements of the patient (anxious patients, high-risk patients) as well as the complexity of the surgical procedure determine whether the treatment is performed under general anesthesia, twilight sleep, or local anesthesia. If inpatient treatment is necessary, we can draw on a network of state-of-the-art facilities (affiliated doctors in general and private hospitals). One contact person for all questions relating to the face! Dental surgery (oral surgery): This refers to minor dental surgical procedures, some of which are also performed by specialized dentists in the oral cavity. However, complex situations are referred to a specialist in oral surgery (referral letter), as they are able to perform the procedure much more frequently, routinely, and therefore more gently, and also have special surgical equipment (operating light, special X-ray machine, special instruments) at their disposal. These procedures are usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Your dentist (whether at the dental center or at an outside dental practice) may recommend, for example, the removal of wisdom teeth or treatment of an infection at the root tip, a dental implant, or bone augmentation.... Ask to be referred to a specialist for this service. Your dentist knows that you are in good hands with us and will receive a treatment report, copies of the X-rays, and a satisfied patient at the end of the treatment! Of course, you can also register directly for surgical treatment or obtain a second opinion, expert opinion, or a comparative quote.
The most common are:
wisdom tooth removal, root tip resection, cyst removal, mucosal tumor removal, bone edge removal or smoothing, tissue sampling, treatment of oral mucosal diseases, bone augmentation, dental implants, mucosal grafts, connective tissue grafts, exposure of impacted teeth, complex tooth extractions, vestibule plasty, tongue and lip tie corrections, treatment of high-risk patients (tendency to bleed, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, patients who have undergone radiation therapy, patients undergoing bisphosphonate therapy).
One of the main areas of focus in our practice is dental implantology. No other form of dental prosthesis comes as close to the original condition as an implant. The small "post" made of biocompatible pure titanium replaces the tooth root and grows firmly into the jawbone. Dental crowns, bridges, or even dentures can be fixed to this foundation. After treatment, you will once again have the comfort of a firmly anchored tooth. You will feel no restrictions when laughing, speaking, or chewing. From single tooth restoration to edentulous jaws, we can offer you individual implant solutions that provide long-term comfort and aesthetics. And so that you can be sure: in implantology, we work closely with the world's leading implant manufacturers (Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Camlog, Biomed) and Swiss specialist laboratories. Let us give you a comprehensive personal consultation.
What is the best functional and aesthetic treatment, how much treatment and time is required, and what kind of sophisticated treatment can I afford? Several thousand implants have been placed in our practice and hundreds of bone augmentations have been successfully performed. Today, there is virtually no situation in which an experienced oral surgeon cannot provide you with the conditions for successful chewing rehabilitation with dental implants. Individual requirements determine the duration, scope, and cost of treatment. Of course, a detailed cost estimate will be provided after a clinical and radiological examination.
Oral surgery:
The face and jaw are anatomically and functionally highly complex parts of the human body. Their comprehensive understanding and professional medical treatment require holistic medical and dental specialization. We treat the entire spectrum of diseases, injuries, accident consequences, and malformations in this sensitive area of the body: from relatively simple surgical procedures under local anesthesia to complex functional rehabilitation with bone augmentation and dental implants under general anesthesia. In most cases, we work closely with referring physicians or co-treating physicians. For example, orthodontists (jaw malformation, tooth retention, wisdom tooth removal, retention anchor screws), general practitioners (pain assessment), or dentists (bone ridge augmentation with bone grafts). A state-of-the-art computerized tomographic X-ray program (DVT) provides highly precise 3-dimensional planning images. Precise patient and treatment documentation and recommendations for possible follow-up treatment are sent to the referring physician at the end of treatment.
The most common are:
Correction of jaw malformations (dysgnathia), asymmetries, maxillary sinus surgery, correction of nasal breathing obstructions, sleep apnea treatment, jaw ridge augmentation with bone grafts, temporomandibular joint treatments, treatment of facial pain conditions, treatment of tumors of the oral cavity and facial skin, treatment of inflammation of the oral mucosa, the tooth bed, the bone, and the facial glands.
Facial surgery:
Our faces make us unique and distinctive. It is no wonder that even the smallest changes caused by disease (skin tumors), injury (fractures, soft tissue wounds), malformations (protruding ears), or aging processes can greatly affect our well-being. All procedures, whether reconstructive (e.g., scar correction) or cosmetic (wrinkle correction), must always be performed with aesthetic considerations in mind.
The most common procedures are:
Scar correction, wrinkle correction through padding or injections, Botox injections, lip surgery, eyelid surgery, chin surgery, cheekbone augmentation, ear pinning, forehead lifts, correction of asymmetries, dentures and implants, prosthetic dentures.
Teeth can be severely damaged by poor dental care, tooth decay, periodontitis, malocclusion, or an accident. A distinction is generally made between fixed and removable dentures.
If a severely damaged tooth can still be saved, covering it with a crown (with or without a post anchor) is a possible treatment option.
If a tooth has to be removed, there are various options for closing the gap. Depending on how many teeth need to be replaced and how healthy the jawbone is, bridges, implants, model cast prostheses, telescopic prostheses, full dentures, or implant-supported prostheses can be used.
Pediatric dentistry and anxious patients
We have a big heart for our little patients and are very well equipped to treat children.
Children function differently than adults; they live in the moment. They do not understand that accepting something unpleasant now will make things better later, which is why there is sometimes no second chance when treating children. The first appointment should always be purely for prophylaxis or a check-up so that the child does not automatically associate a visit to the dentist with pain, but with something pleasant.
The behavior of the parents is very important here. Often, the fear of the mother/father is unintentionally transferred to the child. Please avoid statements such as "We're going to the dentist, it won't hurt." After all, you don't say, "We're going to the bakery, it won't hurt!" We have put together a short guide for your child's first visit to our practice.
First impressions are crucial! New experiences/information are always stored in the brain together with feelings and an evaluation. When encountering a situation that has already been experienced, the brain first recalls the evaluation and then the memory.
The anxious patient knows that their fear is unfounded, but they are still afraid. That's why some people are afraid of the color white, react to smells with discomfort, and find the trigger for their fear in syringes, drills, noises, and colors.
Anxious patients, like children, perceive the situation in the dentist's chair as threatening: surrounded by staff, with no means of escape, lying on their back, the staff masked up to their ears, with no influence on what is happening and no knowledge of what is going on.
Dental hygiene
The treatments carried out by our dental hygienists range from plaque removal to tartar removal. Their tasks also include providing patients with information on topics such as toothbrushing techniques and the use of various aids (dental floss, interdental brushes, toothpicks, etc.). We recommend one appointment per year to ensure effective monitoring of your oral hygiene and to enable the early detection of possible dental problems.
Teeth whitening
Teeth whitening is a safe and effective treatment that can achieve long-term whitening of the teeth. Caries-free teeth and the absence of old plastic fillings are a prerequisite for bleaching. Veneers can also be an ideal alternative for very thin enamel and hypersensitive teeth. There are two different bleaching methods.
Home bleaching
After professional teeth cleaning, an impression is first taken and used to create a customized, ultra-thin, flexible tray. The patient wears this tray with the gel, which consists of a weak acid, for about 2 hours every day. The treatment is monitored by a follow-up dental check-up and should produce the desired results after a few weeks.
In-office whitening
After professional teeth cleaning at the dentist's office, a highly concentrated bleaching agent is applied. This treatment takes about an hour. The whitening achieved with both methods can last for several years, depending on lifestyle habits (coffee, black tea, cola, red wine, smoking, etc.). However, if the results fade, the whitening can be repeated.
Root canal treatment
If the nerve of a tooth is inflamed or even dead, root canal treatment is an attempt to preserve the tooth. Nerve inflammation is usually caused by bacteria migrating from deep caries, dental trauma, or periodontitis.
Nerve inflammation may or may not be accompanied by pain. If such a tooth is not treated, the inflammation can spread from the tooth to the jawbone and even cause an abscess and ultimately the loss of the tooth.
Root canal treatment procedure
After numbing the tooth, the nerve is removed using specially designed instruments. The tooth root itself remains intact. The root canals are then cleaned using special instruments and disinfectant solutions. This combats the bacteria and attempts to heal the inflammation.
Depending on the number of roots and thus also the root canals of the tooth and the severity of the inflammation, the complexity of the treatment can vary and may take several weeks.
After cleaning and disinfection, the root canals are sealed again with a filling so that bacteria can no longer spread.
If only a small amount of residual tooth substance remains, it is usually necessary to fit the root-treated tooth with a crown to ensure long-term stability.
