Appenzell

The village of Appenzell and the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden lie in a unique hilly landscape north of the Säntis. The region offers rural traditions such as alpine descents, cultural characteristics such as folk music and dances as well as hiking in the Alpstein region.

Glasi Hergiswil

The Hergiswil glassworks on Lake Lucerne has been in existence since 1817, when the Siegwart brothers found a production site with an ideal transport route for energy and goods. The glassworks was due to close in 1975.

Val de Travers

The Val de Travers, which is characterized by the watchmaking industry, stretches from Lake Neuchâtel across the Jura to the border with France. Asphalt mines and the Creux du Van rock circus are just as much a part of the Val de Travers as a sparkling wine cellar and steam trains. However, the secret star of the valley is the "Green Fairy".

La Gruyère

The region of La Gruyère, with its green hilly landscape and the peaks of the Fribourg Pre-Alps, is home to the world-famous cheese "Le Gruyère AOP". The medieval picture-book town of Gruyères sits enthroned on a small hill.

Sempach Bird Observatory Visitor Center

The Swiss Ornithological Institute Sempach is the national center for the study and protection of native birds and their habitats, supported by the population. The new visitor center is the unmistakable excursion destination and tourist attraction on Lake Sempach.

On the north side of the Schrattenfluh limestone mountain range, in the canton of Lucerne, but actually almost in the Emmental, as one of the best Emmental cheeses is made here. Marbachegg lies on the watershed between the Ilfis and Emme catchment areas and is part of the Unesco Entlebuch Biosphere Reserve.
