After years of experience as a painter - foreman and after graduating from the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Walter Mäder founded his own business in Männedorf in 1966. In the confined space of a barn, everything that could not be done on site or for customers was renovated and refreshed over many evenings and weekends. It was a lot of fun refreshing antique furniture, painting, gilding and using special brush techniques to restore existing wood grains. Limited space and the constantly growing customer base forced the search for more suitable premises. These were found in Ürikon on Obere Mattstrasse with a heated storage room and on Industriestrasse in Stäfa with a workshop for carrying out preparatory and spraying work.

With Sandra Mäder, the second generation joined the company. As an apprentice, she played a leading role in Thomas Mäder's training and, together with Walter Mäder, passed on the experience gained and the joy of the profession. After completing various further training courses, Thomas Mäder runs the family business together with his father. The skill and joy of preserving what already exists, using various techniques, has been passed on to the next generation.
