Kunsthaus Zug – Contacts & Location
Description
The Kunsthaus Zug: a place for contemporary and modern art.
World-renowned collection with works of Viennese Modernism (Klimt, Hoffmann, Schiele, Kokoschka, etc.), Swiss Surrealism and Fantasticism as well as artworks relating to the region. Due to the limited space available, the diverse collection is not on permanent display and is presented in four to five themed temporary exhibitions with targeted inclusion of the public space.
With "Project Collection", a globally unique collection model of contemporary art has been developed that turns the museum into a laboratory. Site-specific interventions are created in multi-year collaborations with international artists (Eliasson, Kabakov, Kawamata, Pepperstein, Rütimann, Signer, Tuttle).
Since 2002, "Kunsthaus Zug mobil" has been on the road, a transportable exhibition space in the form of a special container for site-specific projects. A traveling museum that shows exhibitions in advance with works of contemporary art in the smallest of spaces.
Short descriptionThe Kunsthaus Zug has several thematic collections, ranging from classical modernism to contemporary art and also incorporating art from the region. It has the most important collection of Viennese Modernism in Europe outside of Austria, with works by Klimt, Gerstl, Hoffmann, Kokoschka, Schiele, Wotruba and others. Due to the limited space available, the diverse collection is not on permanent display and is presented in themed temporary exhibitions. Three to four projects a year are dedicated to contemporary and 20th century art with targeted inclusion of public space.
With "Project Collection", a globally unique collection model of contemporary art has been developed that turns the museum into a laboratory. Site-specific interventions are created in collaboration with international artists (Eliasson, Huws, Kabakov, Kawamata, Pepperstein, Rütimann, Signer, Tuttle) over several years. "Project Collection" allows the audience to follow artistic processes from their idea to their realization.
