medico international switzerland is a forward-looking development cooperation organization committed to providing grassroots-oriented, holistic, and tailored healthcare in countries in the Global South. The vision behind our work is "Healthcare for all." By health, we mean physical, mental, and social well-being.
History
On December 9, 1937, Centrale Sanitaire Suisse CSS was founded in Zurich during the Spanish Civil War. As the Swiss section of Centrale Sanitaire Internationale, it organized medical aid for Republican Spain.
In 2002, the German-Swiss section of the CSS decided to adopt a new logo and name: medico international schweiz, formerly Centrale Sanitaire Suisse, was founded as a new association.
