UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is one of a total of 33 national UNICEF committees. They all have the task of providing information about the work of the children's fund, collecting donations for its programs, and campaigning for the implementation of children's rights.

The UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein Committee was founded in 1959 as an association, at that time under the name Swiss Committee for UNICEF. Like all 33 national UNICEF committees, we provide information about the work of the children's fund, collect donations for global programs, and campaign for children's rights to be respected and implemented in this country.

UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is financed exclusively by private donations. An agreement with UNICEF International obliges us to make the donations available for international programs within 18 months.

The highest body of UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is the Delegates' Assembly. The delegates are elected by our members for a four-year term and work on a voluntary basis without remuneration. Among other things, they appoint the Executive Board and the commission members and are responsible for the strategic and normative management of the committee.

UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is certified according to ISO 9001:2015.

The UNICEF Foundation

Generous donations and bequests to UNICEF are often linked to a desire to provide long-term help and leave a lasting legacy. To this end, the Swiss Committee for UNICEF Foundation was established in Zurich in 2000. The foundation manages the donations over a longer period of time and continuously distributes funds to the committee, from where they flow into program work.
