The prices of ALL the shops on the Geneva main train station Cornavin including the subterranean passage are outrageously high, just as if you were on an airport. It’s quite bad at other Swiss train stations too, but Cornavin beats them all in costlyness. It can also be a dangerous place, especially at day time, when the “quai 9” - a place for drug addicts to consume their drugs in a protected surrounding - is open (from 11am -19pm, 365 days a year). “Quai 9” is situated above/behind the station, however and the police are doing a reasonably good job of keeping the druggies away from Cornavin itself. Nevertheless, I’ve already been attacked and robbed twice in the Cornavin surroundings, once with relatively severe bodily harm (I was attacked from behind and knocked off my feet, ended up in the ER of the University Hospital, couldn’t work anymore for 2 weeks and got robbed of things and money worth 2200.- CHF) The traffic is also very badly directed and there’s just two small exits.
