Panorama Lodge - La Casa dei Gelsi

The project that led to the realisation of the Panorama Lodge “La Casa dei Gelsi” was born in 2018, when the Zanini family decided to take over a large building on the edge of the village of Scudellate, at the top of the Muggio Valley, to renovate it as part of the development of the Albergo Diffuso del Monte Generoso. The building was built by the families of Gabriele and Antonio Cereghetti in 1890, when mountain farming families still exploited the terraces as the only agricultural resource to survive the difficult living conditions in the valley and was inhabited by their descendants until 2018. The old residence borders the old Swiss Guards’ (customs) house and is located along the path leading to the Italian border. A path that was trodden by many people during and after the Second World War, carrying goods and bringing with them joys and sufferings that marked an era and gave Scudellate a small role in their history. The work to renovate the building lasted four years and was particularly challenging. The Zanini family’s objective was to maintain the historical character of the house, but the main difficulty was the interior spaces, organised with two vertical flats each consisting of a myriad of small rooms. For this reason, the renovation could only be partially conservative, while various internal parts were restored maintaining the parameters and materials but realised with the knowledge of our time. In particular, all the exposed stone walls built at the end of the 19th century by the Cereghetti brothers have been worked on and now enhance the interiors of the ‘Casa dei Gelsi’. The large building overlooks a garden and terraces once used for agricultural purposes, which the Zanini family decided to reconstruct and enhance using materials used for the historical construction of the building, such as stone from Monte Generoso (Moltrasio stone), chestnut wood, etc. The large garden now houses five large mulberry trees and also a vegetable garden, while a large organic vineyard has been created on the various terraces, where there are also various species of native fruit trees.

🌱 Who am I? My name is Benjamin Jean-Mairet and I’m the founder of JM Paysage, a company I launched in November 2024 in Bavois, in the Gros-de-Vaud region. A lifelong nature enthusiast, I completed dual training in agriculture and landscaping, earning Swiss Federal Certificates in both fields. This journey has given me a holistic and respectful understanding of plants, soil, and their interaction with people. Starting my business was a life choice: to work in harmony with nature, offer local, personalized service, and build trust with each client. Every garden I create tells a story – yours – and I do everything I can to make that story beautiful, lasting, and alive. 👨‍🌾 My commitment I place ecology, respect for plants, and a tailored approach at the core of my work. My goal is simple: to deliver high-quality work built to last, in line with both client needs and the environment. I favor sustainable materials, natural solutions, and adapt to each soil, exposure, and season. My commitments: • Respect for nature and biodiversity • Listening and customizing every project • Attention to every detail, from planting to finish • Personal presence on-site, with no intermediaries 🌿 Personalized landscaping services to enhance your outdoors At JM Paysage, every project is designed to blend aesthetics, functionality, and respect for nature. We support individuals, businesses, and public entities in all their exterior projects through a complete and custom-made offer. Here’s a look at our services: • Lawn mowing A well-maintained lawn reflects a tidy space. I offer regular or occasional mowing based on the season and your needs for a dense, even lawn. • Planting I select trees, shrubs, perennials, or flowers based on your preferences, exposure, and soil type to create a lively, harmonious garden. • Lawn creation Whether by seeding or using turf rolls, I prepare the soil (weeding, leveling, amending) to ensure successful growth. • Scarifying and aeration These techniques regenerate the lawn: scarifying removes moss, aeration opens the soil for better water and nutrient absorption. • Selective treatment My treatments target weeds and diseases with effective, eco-friendly solutions that respect the environment. • Pruning I prune hedges, shrubs, and fruit trees to shape the garden, encourage growth, and maintain a neat appearance all year. • Garden design I design and create custom gardens: flowerbeds, paths, terraces, relaxation spaces or vegetable patches – always adapted to your land. • Paving with slabs For terraces or walkways, I carefully lay slabs (concrete, natural stone...) for an aesthetic, solid, and durable result. • Paving stones Ideal for driveways or decorative paths, I lay them straight, in arcs or herringbone patterns depending on your style. • Outdoor stairs I design functional and aesthetic stairs in stone, wood, or concrete, adapted to the slope of your garden. • Walls and low walls Whether decorative or structural, I build walls in stone, concrete, or modular blocks to enhance and shape your outdoor space. • Fences and screens To secure or ensure privacy, I install fences, screens, and privacy panels in wood, metal, or composite, based on your preferences. • Corporate services I offer maintenance contracts for businesses and municipalities: mowing, pruning, cleaning, and seasonal designs. ✅ Why choose me? Hiring JM Paysage means: • One dedicated contact who knows your project from start to finish • Certified expertise and artisanal know-how • Precise, careful, and lasting workmanship • Close collaboration and availability throughout • A truly ecological approach, not just for show I commit to supporting you with professionalism, passion, and respect. 📍 Areas I serve I mainly work in the Gros-de-Vaud (Bavois, Chavornay, Orbe, Echallens, Vuarrens, Penthéréaz, Oullens, Orny, Pompaples, La Sarraz, Eclépens, Cossonay, Penthaz, Penthalaz, Aclens, Vufflens), but I can travel further depending on the nature of the project and agreements made.
