Sternenmehr – An offering from Familycare Basel for young and old in the heart of Basel

In the center of Basel, we offer a daycare center, flexible childcare, courses for young and old, lecture series on current educational topics, and a modern event room for your own events on over 1000 m² of space. Discover our wide range of services.

 

Opening hours

Sternenmehr is open on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. With the exception of the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve, public holidays, and Carnival Monday, there are no holidays or closing days.

 

Childcare

Childcare at Sternenmehr is a high-quality service that can be booked at short notice for children aged three to primary school age.

Childcare staff and scope of care

Care is provided by professionals at daycare level, but due to the short-term bookability, even for individual hours or days, it does not pursue educational standards comparable to those of a daycare center.

Meals

Full board is offered, including breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner if required. The food has been awarded the "Fourchette verte – Ama Terra" label and is therefore based on the criteria for balanced meals for young children in accordance with the Swiss food pyramid.

Most of the baby food is prepared in-house using organic ingredients. If special dietary requirements arise, we rely on long-standing daycare suppliers of organic and branded products.

Cost

You can find an overview of the costs in the"Sternenmehr price overview" information sheet. In addition to meals (which can be booked individually), all hygiene products are also included. All excursions and participation in the daily program carried out as part of childcare are also included in the price.

We currently require 48 hours' notice (two working days) to organize childcare.

Please note:

If we have fewer than three bookings or children at Sternenmehr on a Saturday, the price is CHF 35.00 per hour of childcare. We can inform you of the current booking situation 48 hours before the start of the desired childcare.

According to §8 of the Ordinance on the Care of Children in Day Care Centers and Day Care Families (Kindertagesstätten- und Tagesfamilienverordnung, KTV), a child may be cared for at Sternenmehr for a maximum of 16 hours per week.

 

Event hall rental

The Sternenmehr event hall is located on the first floor of the Kirschgarten commercial building in the heart of Basel. It is the ideal venue for all kinds of events and can be used for a variety of purposes.

• Equipped with 50 Vitra chairs and a maximum of 15 conference tables
• Event stage 5 m x 2.5 m and a height of 45 cm

Rental prices for event room

• Half day: CHF 500
• Full day: CHF 800
• Evening event: CHF 350

The rental fee includes seating, tables, use of the available presentation technology, water, coffee, and cleaning.

Special conditions apply for non-profit organizations and associations, as well as for members of the Familycare Basel association.
