Welcome to the Port Museum Transport Hub Switzerland

We welcome you to the Port Museum Transport Hub Switzerland.

The exhibition was first opened in 1954 under the name "Our Way to the Sea" by the Swiss Shipping Company and Neptun AG, which established a foundation with the same name. Nicolas Jaquet, director of the Swiss Shipping Company and Neptun AG, provided the necessary funds.
On the occasion of the "2nd Swiss Exhibition for Gardening and Landscaping Grün 80," the Rhine port took on special significance as an attraction. This led to a redesign of the exhibition, which reopened in 1981. Once again, the Swiss Shipping Company and Neptun AG provided considerable assistance.

In 1992, the "Unser Weg zum Meer" foundation is transformed into the "Verkehrsdrehscheibe Schweiz" association. With the help of its highly committed president, Heinz H. Merzweiler, and sponsors, the association develops a completely redesigned exhibition, which opens two years later.

In 2019, after 25 years, the association's board, led by president Rolf Schlebach, decided that the 1954 building was in need of complete renovation. The "Verkehrsdrehscheibe Schweiz" exhibition was updated, redesigned, and reopened in July 2021.

The association is supported by over 100 individual, corporate, and patron members.
