Many people want to live at home in familiar surroundings for as long as possible, despite illness, disability, or declining strength. The non-profit organization Spitex offers professional support for this, i.e., home care.
We work in a client-oriented manner and improve our professionalism and quality of work through continuous training and further education.
Our services are available to the following people
- Elderly, injured, sick, convalescent, disabled, and dying people
- People who are in a physical, mental, and/or social crisis or risk situation
- Women before or after childbirth
- Relatives of people in need of care, to relieve them of some of their workload

All residents of the affiliated municipalities of Ingenbohl, Morschach, Riemenstalden, Schwyz, Steinen, and Steinerberg who need temporary or permanent help, care, or support are entitled to Spitex services.
Our qualified specialist staff will provide nursing and medical care in your home in cooperation with your family doctor. Depending on your needs, care will be provided by SRK nursing assistants, healthcare professionals, qualified nurses, and/or home nurses.
Our services
In accordance with the principle of helping people to help themselves, Spitex employees take on the following tasks on your behalf or in addition to your own efforts:
- Assessment and advice
- Basic care: assistance with personal hygiene, showering and bathing, dressing and undressing, mobilization, or repositioning
- Treatment care: wound treatment, administering medication, injections and infusions, measuring vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, etc.) and enemas, as prescribed by a doctor
- Outpatient psychiatric care (APP): Supporting and promoting clients'personal responsibility through conversations, developing a daily routine, providing household training, developing and implementing coping strategies, assisting with medication management, etc.
- Care and support for seriously ill and dying people
Domestic services
Home nurses and SRK nursing assistants support and relieve families and individuals in the household when they are no longer able to manage independently for health reasons.
Our services
- Independent housekeeping, relief in the household, guidance and support with housekeeping
- Cleaning, laundry, ironing and folding, shopping, cooking, etc.
- Relief for family members providing care and support
- Each new assignment is preceded by a needs assessment, which is subject to a fee. Based on this assessment, we obtain a medical certificate.
- If the client has taken out appropriate supplementary insurance with their health insurance company, they will be reimbursed for part of the costs (please check with your insurance company).
- Our assignments do not include apartment clearances, repairs to appliances and equipment, gardening, or pet care.
Outpatient psychiatric care
Our certified psychiatric nurses support people with mental health issues in their familiar surroundings.
The outpatient psychiatric care team works with internal and external specialists from various professional and specialist groups to enable clients to live as independently as possible and enjoy the best possible quality of life.
Care and support for clients
- Supporting and promoting clients' personal responsibility
- Developing a daily structure, building up activities
- Providing household training
- Developing coping strategies and helping with implementation
- Support with medication management
- Providing support in crisis situations
- Relief and counseling for family caregivers
- Basic care (assistance with personal hygiene)
- Treatment care (wound treatment, injections, medical procedures)
- Cooperation with specialist agencies
- Support for medical treatment
Advice for mothers and fathers
Everyday family life with small children is wonderful but also demanding. We are delighted to advise and support parents individually in their tasks.
Our services
- Support in your new role as a mother or father
- Guidance on breastfeeding issues
- Advice on child care, nutrition, and development
- Advice on how to prevent illness and accidents
- Facilitating contact with other mothers and fathers
- Explanation and clarification of other services (e.g., other counseling centers)
- We are bound by professional secrecy and are obliged to maintain confidentiality
The mother and father counseling service is provided by the Spitex Region Schwyz association on behalf of the municipalities of Gersau, Illgau, Ingenbohl, Morschach, Muotathal, Schwyz, Steinen, Steinerberg, and Riemenstalden.
A one-time registration fee of CHF 30 is charged. Our counseling centers are available to all parents without prior appointment.
