Restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores: the village of Genolier is fortunate to have a wide range of local shops. Added to this is Norbert Prélaz's beautiful artisan butcher shop, which he opened in 1988 with his wife Brigitte in the premises of the former "fruitière" (read: dairy).
Due to its success, the team now consists of eight people. Norbert Prélaz is a country butcher who slaughters and cuts up cattle, mainly from local farms, at the Vich slaughterhouse.
The prime cuts of beef are aged for three weeks on the bone at his branch in Trélex to ensure tasty and tender meat. The butcher's shop is also renowned for its Vaud charcuterie and produces excellent sausages, ham on the bone, and cabbage sausages. Not to mention 3,500 meat pies per month! Homemade dishes are also available, such as stews cooked during the hunting season or papet aux poireaux (leek pâté), as well as dairy products, cheese cut to order, a few grocery items, and bottles of wine from local vintners.
High-quality meat, very reasonable prices, and a warm welcome have led one customer to say that the Genolier butcher's shop is the best between Lisbon and Moscow!
