Tautona birch sugar is a natural sugar substitute based on xylitol, also known as birch sugar. This is obtained from the bark of birch and beech trees and is produced in Finland.

Xylitol has the same sweetening power as conventional sugar, but with around 40% fewer calories. It also has a minimal effect on blood sugar levels, making it suitable for diabetics.

Another advantage of xylitol is its tooth-friendly properties, as it helps to maintain tooth mineralization.

Tautona offers birch sugar in various packaging sizes, from 250g to 25kg bags.

The products are packaged in biodegradable bags to protect the environment.

They are ideal for sweetening drinks such as tea and coffee as well as for cooking and baking. However, it is important to note that xylitol cannot be utilized by yeasts and is therefore not suitable for yeast doughs.

Excessive consumption can also have a laxative effect, which is why a slow acclimatization is recommended.
