Spitex Grenchen
Who are we?
Spitex provides healthcare and nursing care outside of hospitals and nursing homes, as well as assistance in your own home for people of all ages. Three-quarters of all Spitex clients are over 65 years of age, but we are of course also there for young people and those of working age. The Spitex Association Grenchen is one of 600 non-profit Spitex organizations recognized by the Spitex Association Switzerland. We are a non-profit organization with a public mandate and operate locally in the city of Grenchen.
What are our goals?
Our Spitex is available to all residents of the city of Grenchen, young and old alike. Thanks to our services, affected individuals can remain at home in their familiar surroundings despite personal limitations or return home earlier from a hospital stay. The decisive factors are necessity and need in the event of illness, accident, disability, infirmity, convalescence, crisis and end-of-life care, or maternity. The aim of Spitex is to maintain and promote the independence of the client. Spitex tries to involve the client's environment as much as possible in the care and assistance provided. In cases where more intensive care is required, Spitex employees rely on additional help from relatives, friends, or neighbors.
How is our non-profit Spitex organized?
The Spitex Association Grenchen is a private association supported at the municipal level, consisting of a 7-member board and approximately 1,600 members. We are affiliated with the Spitex Association of the Canton of Solothurn (SVKS). In accordance with the existing service agreement with the municipality of Grenchen, it is our task to ensure the provision of nursing care and home help services in line with needs within the legal framework of outpatient health care and nursing (Article 100 of the Solothurn Cantonal Constitution). The non-profit Spitex has limits to its services where care and support at home is no longer feasible for professional, human, or economic reasons. For example, when the safety of its clients or Spitex employees can no longer be guaranteed, when family caregivers are overwhelmed, or when inpatient care is a more sensible solution.
