Who is Rotonda?
The Rotonda Foundation in Jegenstorf is a private foundation established in 2002. It is supervised by the Foundation Board and the Foundation Supervisory Authority of the Canton of Bern. The foundation's purpose is to run a retirement home, a residential care center, and a daycare center.
In 2000, the district hospital was closed as part of the hospital reform in the canton of Bern. In April 2002, the Rotonda Foundation took over the district hospital with the aim of creating a residential facility for the elderly in Jegenstorf. Both the retirement home and the residential care center opened in late fall 2004.
The Rotonda retirement home is located on a slight hill at the northern end of Jegenstorf on the main road between Bern and Solothurn.
The Rotonda is easily accessible by public transport. Any gaps in the timetable are covered by the Rotonda's own shuttle bus.
