Our technical office was founded in 1967 in Lausanne by Marcel NEUWLY and André SOUTTER. It operates in a wide range of construction and civil engineering fields, such as:

Building structures (concrete, metal, and wood), industrial halls, civil protection structures.
Public works, engineering structures, and road construction.
Conversions, renovations, historic monuments.
Expertise and consulting.

Operating as a simple partnership until 1981, our firm had up to fifteen employees. It was converted into a public limited company in 1982, restructured and now has 12 employees. In October 2016, the company name was changed to "KÄLIN & ASSOCIÉS SA".

We are also committed to remaining open to privileged collaborations with other engineering firms where team spirit and the exchange of respective intrinsic qualities are necessary to solve the most complex cases. In addition, the company's team of engineers is trained in the concept and seismic design of structures.

In addition, one of our directors, Mr. Jean-François KÄLIN, who specializes in wood construction and holds a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Division, from Colorado State University, U.S.A., in the field of wooden bridges and long-span structures, has encouraged the firm to become involved at various levels in the promotion of wood construction in Switzerland and abroad, particularly in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil, as a speaker at various one- to two-week seminars on the design of wooden structures.

Finally, we have contributed and continue to contribute to professional training both at the practical level (more than 20 civil engineering and reinforced concrete draftsmen have been trained in our office since 1967) and at the academic level through our presence as construction assistants at EPFL for the Departments of Rural Engineering and Architecture, which allows us to maintain contact with academic circles and research.

Finally, since 1998, we have participated in seven engineering competitions by invitation and won six of them. At the same time, since 2000, in collaboration with architects, we have won 15 competitions and several honorable mentions. These results are a guarantee for all project owners that we can contribute interesting ideas.
