Our technical office was founded in 1967 in Lausanne by Messrs Marcel NEUWLY and André SOUTTER; it operates in a wide range of construction and civil engineering fields such as:

• Building structures (concrete, metal and wood) industrial halls, civil protection structures.
• Public works, engineering structures and roadworks.
• Transformation, renovation, historical monuments.

As a simple company until 1981, our office counted up to fifteen people. Transformed into a SA in 1982, it was restructured and today has 12 employees. As of October 2016, the company name was changed to "KÄLIN & ASSOCIÉS SA".

We are also committed to remaining open to privileged collaborations with other engineering offices where team spirit and the exchange of respective intrinsic qualities are necessary to solve the most complex cases. In addition, the company's team of engineers is trained in seismic design and dimensioning of structures.

One of our directors, Mr. Jean-François KÄLIN, specializes in timber construction, and holds a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Division, Colorado State University, U.S.A. in the field of timber bridges and long-span structures, has prompted the office to become involved at various levels in the promotion of timber construction in Switzerland and abroad, notably in Argentina, Chile and Brazil, as a speaker at various one- to two-week seminars on the design of timber structures.

Finally, we have contributed and continue to contribute to professional training both on a practical level (more than 20 draughtsmen in civil engineering and reinforced concrete have been trained in our office since 1967) and on an academic level through our presence as a construction assistant at the EPFL for the Departments of Rural Engineering and Architecture, which enables us to maintain contact with academia and research.

Finally, since 1998, we have participated by invitation in 7 engineering competitions and won 6 of them. At the same time, since 2000, in collaboration with architects, we have won 15 competitions and several places of honor. These results are a guarantee for all project owners that we can contribute interesting ideas.
