Detailed description of our practice
We offer you our many years of experience in all areas of dentistry, combined with the latest scientific findings: Whether you are young or old, afraid of dental treatment or brave and optimistic, have acute problems or simply want preventive care – we are happy to be there for you!
Philosophy:
As a family dental practice, we focus on providing comprehensive medical services for our patients. Our foundation is a wide range of treatments and good cooperation within our own team and with other doctors. This allows us to take into account the interplay of the many factors that affect the health of your mouth and teeth, thereby contributing to maintaining your health.
Through comprehensive, ongoing training and a critical review and selection of treatment methods, we can
offer you high-quality services in all areas of dentistry. Modern treatment equipment such as lasers, intraoral cameras, root canal treatment devices, and much more are part of our standard equipment.
Together with you, we want to assess your current situation in the diagnosis, point out treatment options, and discuss their advantages and disadvantages in order to put together a plan to solve your problems as needed. We recognize the quality guidelines of the Swiss Dental Association (SSO) in all treatment strategies.
You will feel comfortable in our functional yet pleasantly designed rooms and experience a trusting and familiar treatment atmosphere.
German, French, Italian, English, Slovak, Czech, and Croatian are spoken in our practice.
Examination and diagnosis:
We begin every treatment with a detailed review of your medical history.
Here you tell us about your medical history and your current condition, including any general complaints and your current problems with your teeth, mouth, and jaw. We complete the overall picture with our supplementary questions.
The next step is an examination of the external head and its muscles, followed by a thorough inspection of the mucous membranes, the floor of the mouth and throat, as well as the teeth and periodontium.
For this purpose, we can use additional examination methods such as X-rays, cold tests, pocket depth measurements, laboratory tests (biopsy, saliva test), etc. to supplement and round off the findings.
Treatments:
We create a personalized treatment plan with alternatives for you. We place great importance on transparency. This means that we present you with viable alternative plans to the proposed treatment plan, incorporating all our knowledge to your advantage. The costs incurred by you are very important, and we discuss these in detail with you in the alternatives.
Together with you, we will develop a treatment plan based on your health, your requirements, your wishes, and your financial possibilities. The decision on treatment and scheduling is always yours.
In all therapies, preserving your teeth and you as a person are our top priority.
Treatment methods:
Filling therapy:
Teeth with minor to moderate damage can be restored with the help of aesthetic tooth-colored plastic fillings. These consist of inorganic glass particles surrounded by an organic matrix with plastic content. Even more aesthetically pleasing and longer-lasting, but more expensive, ceramic fillings (manufactured in a laboratory) are also available.
Amalgam removal:
Under routine protective measures (impermeable rubber foil, special suction systems), the silver fillings are removed and replaced with white plastic fillings. In rare cases, it may also be necessary to remove heavy metals from the body. This can be done with the help of vitamins and trace elements or with biological substances (Chlorella pyrenoidosa).
Root canal treatment:
In cases of severely damaged teeth or painful, inflamed dental nerves, root canal treatment is the last resort for preserving a tooth. This involves removing the infected nerve tissue from the root canal and filling the root, which is done under conditions that are as germ-free as possible. Only then can the tooth be rebuilt.
Aesthetic corrections to tooth color and shape:
Nowadays, it is possible to whiten teeth (bleaching). This can be done either in one session at the dentist's office (in-office bleaching) or in several sessions at home (home bleaching). We will be happy to advise you on the procedures and the advantages and disadvantages of the respective methods. The desire for beautiful white teeth has increased in recent years. We also take this demand into account. Teeth that sometimes also need to be beautified in terms of shape are corrected with ceramic veneers or ceramic crowns (see modern prosthetics).
Modern prosthetics:
A distinction is made between removable dentures (prostheses) and non-removable dentures (crowns, bridges), which are permanently cemented in place. In the case of crowns and bridges, the dentures are either made of ceramic alone or of a metal framework onto which ceramic is fired.
The shape and color of your own teeth can be corrected using thin ceramic shells (veneers); minimally invasive beautification of your own teeth.
Oral surgery:
Oral surgery encompasses all outpatient oral surgical procedures such as tooth extractions, complicated operations on impacted teeth, root tip resections, abscess or cyst operations, plastic corrections to bones and soft tissues, traumatology, and implantology.
Implantology:
Using the proven SPI® titanium screw system (Swiss Precision Implant, Thommen Medical, Grenchen, Switzerland), a replacement root is inserted into the bone to serve as an anchor. Depending on requirements, a crown, bridge, or other fastening element for prostheses can then be fixed to this.
Periodontology:
Diagnosis and treatment of gum disease (gingivitis) or gum disease in which the bone is also affected (periodontitis).
Prophylaxis/dental hygiene:
Thorough oral hygiene is ensured through professional diagnosis, consultation, teeth cleaning, and patient support.
Treatment of anxious patients:
Through an intensive anxiety reduction program, we strive to create a stress-free treatment environment.
Pediatric dentistry and school dental care:
This includes regular, prophylactic monitoring of oral hygiene with nutrition and brushing instruction for our young patients, as well as treatments such as sealants, baby tooth fillings, baby tooth extractions, tooth extractions and space maintainers, white fillings in permanent teeth, root canal treatments, dental accidents, and the manufacture of custom-fit sports mouth guards.
Network:
In order to achieve our common, holistic goals, we have excellent contacts with
- General practitioners/internists
- Bern University Hospital for major oral surgery or further examinations
- Orthodontists (once a week also in our practice)
Whatever your dental treatment needs, we look forward to hearing from you and assure you of our best efforts.
