A brief history from 1924 to today

At the beginning of the last century, Piazza Grande was the nerve center of the Locarno area.

It was on the edge of this square that Oreste Borghi opened his real estate agency of the same name in 1924.

Oreste Borghi was a pioneer of the modern concept of "property by floors" or "condominiums," in line with the new demands of tourists. He built the first condominium in Minusio in the early 1960s and created the regulations for managing the communal life of all condominium owners who owned one or more apartments in it.

Over the years, the city of Locarno became an important tourist center, so more and more large-scale construction began. Condominiums and buildings increased, the market was booming, and apartments were sold "off plan." These were the years of the real estate boom.

When the founder, Oreste Borghi, died in 1972, his son Silvio took over the management of the company. But the real estate crisis was looming, the sector was stagnating, and Borghi Real Estate was also affected by the situation. After Silvio Borghi's death in 1983, the agency changed hands several times and its name became Assofide SA, until it was purchased by Giancarlo Cotti in 1993. At that time, Assofide SA consisted of Giancarlo Cotti as director, Erica Borghi in sales, and three other employees.
