Orthodontics
Orthodontics and maxillary orthopedics are the branch of dental medicine that deals with the diagnosis and correction of abnormalities of tooth and jaw position. The aim is to achieve ideal dentition that works well in the long term that does not cause discomfort and is aesthetically pleasing in harmony with the face. Proper dentition is important for function (joints, teeth, digestion, phonation) and for the prevention of damage.
During an initial consultation it will be determined if there is a malocclusion and/or incorrect jaw position that needs treatment.
If it turns out to be recommended treatment, a second appointment will be held to create the medical reports (x-rays, plaster models and photographs) that are necessary for precise analysis and planning.
During an interview with the parent/patient, this result is presented along with the treatment proposal and cost orientation.

Specialist in orthodontics (CH)
The title specialist in orthodontics CH means that a dentist beyond SSO dental training has done minimum 3 years of training at a Swiss university and concluded with a specific examination to obtain the title. (details www.swissortho.ch)In the title specification, the country of origin where the training was completed is put within parentheses. The Swiss dental society SSO guarantees only for the quality of training done in Switzerland and this standard is considered globally very good.
Tariff
Generally, the cost of orthodontic treatment is borne by the parent/patient. Some health insurance companies contribute to the costs if there is supplementary dental insurance. We advise parents to inquire with their respective companies for possible reimbursement. Our practice uses the SSO (Swiss Dental Society) fee schedule for billing with a point value of 3.1/1.00 (minimum).
The treatment of severe abnormalities, which exceed certain threshold values, is covered by disability insurance (DI) until the 20th year of age. In such a case, it will be the specialist's responsibility to duly inform you and show you how to reach AI contributions.
