Fisiocentro Muralto by Ron van Gogh takes care of your health. Physiotherapy treatments are used to treat conditions related to motor disorders; we provide physiotherapy for adults—manual therapy, exercise, rehabilitation, craniosacral therapy—and we also offer physiotherapy for children, including neonatal and pediatric physiotherapy.

We are also interested in osteopathy : treating the person, restoring movement or applying osteopathy to preserve movement and maintain balance and health. Physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments, as well as massages and fitness with personal trainers, are offered at our main location in Muralto and in Ascona and Vira Gambarogno.

The power of self-healing

In the philosophy of osteopathy, humans form a unity of body, spirit, and mind with a strong self-healing power. The body's purpose is to maintain the balance of its constituent systems. This is a dynamic balance, i.e., it changes in response to the various stimuli and stresses to which the body is subjected (e.g., surgery, trauma, childbirth, malnutrition).

 

This adaptation continues to repeat itself throughout life, but sometimes the body is unable to regain a good balance and symptoms begin to appear. It is therefore clear that some problems can arise, even long after the traumatic event.

Regaining movement

 

The body remains healthy as long as all fluids are intact and the tissues are elastic, soft, and mobile. The ability to move is therefore essential. The osteopath seeks to correct the source of the disorder, working mainly where there is a lack of mobility. In this way, the osteopath stimulates the body's self-healing power.

 

Mobility is corrected on three levels:

Physiotherapy is the set of methods implemented by a specific professional, the physiotherapist, to treat a series of pathologies related to motor, higher cortical, and cardiorespiratory disorders.

The work necessarily starts with a careful analysis of the elements that characterize, in the individual, the events that led to the suffering and its clinical and cognitive manifestations. It is therefore a question of first of all assessing elements relating to the physical disorder (impairment), its effect on functional activities (disability or deficit), and the limiting consequences in work, social activities, etc. (handicap), attributing a more or less marked value to aspects related to purely physical factors.

Next, the sensations reported by the patient themselves are taken into consideration with regard to the location, extent, intensity, and quality of the disorders, with any specific checks, clarifications, and further investigations. All these initial elements already contribute to guiding the planning of the clinical assessment and the subsequent therapeutic intervention by the physical therapist. The clinical assessment is carried out through highly specific active and passive motor and functional tests and trials, chosen on the basis of a precise investigation strategy that is gradually formed and articulated simultaneously with the collection of information and as a result of it.

The neonatal and pediatric physiotherapist deals with issues related to psychomotor development from 0 to 16 years of age.

 

The pediatric physiotherapist is a specialist in the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of the neuropsychomotor and respiratory systems in children.

The therapist helps young patients move to the best of their ability through play and fun.

 

Thanks to close collaboration with osteopaths, we can pay special attention to conditions that may slow down the normal development of a child (baby), preventing them from exploring their environment to the fullest.
