MY STORY

My name is Lorenz Odermatt. I was born in Central Switzerland in 1970 and grew up there. Even as a young boy, I knew that I wanted to draw. At the time, nobody could have guessed what direction this would take.

I first came into contact with tattoos through friends during my education. I was fascinated by the art on my skin from the very first moment. Childhood memories of homemade spit tattoos popped up in my head and the feeling of being the greatest was immediately there again.

At 22, I got my first tattoo. The second followed six months later. One look at the design folders and I realized that I could do it too. At first I was ridiculed by those around me, but the subject became more and more serious for me. Silly remarks turned into fascination. At 27, I held my first tattoo machine in my hands. I was allowed to watch a colleague for two years. I had to teach myself everything else, from soldering needles to mixing colors. After my first own work, I knew that this was my path.

In 2000, I went to England for a year. People were more open-minded there and I was able to get a lot of inspiration from renowned tattoo artists.

Back home, that meant going to conventions and working as a guest tattoo artist in Austria, Germany and England.
