MY STORY

My name is Lorenz Odermatt. I was born in 1970 in Central Switzerland, where I grew up. Even as a young boy, I knew that I wanted to draw. At that time, no one could have guessed where that would lead me.

During my training, I came into contact with tattoos for the first time through friends. I was fascinated by the art on the skin from the very first moment. Childhood memories of homemade spit tattoos popped into my head, and the feeling of being the greatest came back immediately.

At 22, I got my first tattoo. Six months later, I got my second. One look at the motif folders and I knew I could do it too. At first, people around me laughed at me, but the subject became more and more serious for me. Stupid comments turned into fascination. At 27, I held my first tattoo machine in my hands. I was allowed to watch a colleague for two years. I had to teach myself everything else, from soldering needles to mixing colors. After my first piece of work, I knew: this is my path.

In 2000, I went to England for a year. People there were more open-minded, and I was able to get a lot of inspiration from renowned tattoo artists.

Back home, that meant going to conventions and working as a guest tattoo artist in Austria, Germany, and England.
