Description
Torgon Village
The village of Torgon lies at an altitude of 1 085 meters. Facilities for skiers and tourists can be found at Plan de Croix, the departure point for the large Portes du Soleil ski area. A free shuttle bus takes you in winter from Place de la Jorette to the start of the slopes.
The lift facilities are owned by Télé-Torgon SA. This company, founded in 1961, has been chaired by Xavier Mottet since July 2010. Currently, Télé-Torgon SA leases its facilities to the Société d'Exploitation Touristique de Torgon. We can distinguish two sectors in the field :
- The Chaux Longe sector, which provides a direct link to Châtel (the boundary being the Chaux Longe ridge). It consists mainly of ski lifts (TK Onnaz, TK Chaux Longe, TK la Tour de Don, TK des Contrebandiers) but also a chairlift, the TS4 Barbossine, which takes Châtel skiers from Petit Châtel to Torgon ;
- The Plan de Croix sector : a real crossroads, this is where you'll find the largest number of runs. Two arches (TK Djeu des Têtes and TK Conche 2000) link up with La Chapelle d'Abondance. The TSD4 du Tronchey takes you back to the previous sector, and the TS2 Grands Places provides access to the last sector.
Torgon lies between two other stations, La Chapelle-d'Abondance and Châtel. It is therefore an obligatory passage bridge between these two French resorts.
At the bottom of the valley flows the Avançon, which arrives on the plain shortly after the village of Vionnaz in the direction of Vouvry.
