A caring school that values differences !
The Athéna School Group offers a differentiated pedagogy, encourages co-education and accompanies the child individually in his or her educational and life project: from Early Childhood (from age 3) to the Swiss Federal Maturité or the French Baccalauréat and this, whatever the profile (hp, tdah, dys-, hypersensitive...).
Our teaching methods are based on the latest advances in neurosciences applied to school issues.
Cultivating difference, is valuing diversity!
Today, we're talking more about a pedagogy adapted to all types of children than a school for children with special profiles. We are not a " specialized " school, but a school dedicated to difference. We know and master perfectly the characteristics linked to learning disabilities (dys-, tdah, hp) and we have the tools and experience to meet the needs of all children.
Our mission is also to foster the acquisition of psycho-social skills(living together)! Our teachers are continuously trained in the precepts of transactional analysis. As a result, the teaching team shares the same references for reading how children function, and knows how to respond to them with listening and benevolence.
Our criterion of excellence aims at the child's successin his or her personal development process. Success in learning follows from this.
The Athena School Group is :
● Adapted and differentiated learning (which uses errors as a motor for success and chooses sources and resources according to the needs of each child). Adapted teaching aids (dys-), memory cards and a methodology for Learning to Learn, continuous assessment, an evaluation grid for mastering skills (no more grades until Collège). And no "homework", but encouragement for autonomy and the reactivation of acquired skills through guided personal work.
● An active pedagogy that makes students actors in their learning, encourages experimentation, exploration and group work. A pedagogy that gives meaning!
● Technology at the service of learning : practical, computer-based tools that facilitate, organize, structure and provide access to unlimited resources (digital office with online textbook, access to educational platforms and digital textbooks, Educ'Arte, Projet Voltaire).
● A peaceful, serene environment that fosters well-being (we explore different techniques: meditation, relaxation, brain gym, yoga), awakening and creativity(we focus on visual arts, which is incidentally offered as a specific option for Maturité).
● Benevolent educational support (which frees speech and welcomes emotions on times of sharing and regulation in class). The full-time presence of an educator, educational advisor and himself a teacher. But also an involved and concerned team, guarantor of the values and educational framework.
● A closeness to nature, to stay grounded in reality and the living. Every year, we organize ski outings in winter and a green class immersed in nature.
●
● An ecosystem where young and old learn to Live Together in Respect and share their knowledge with a common goal of Cooperation.
We are the only school in Greater Geneva that:
Proposes a differentiated teaching (which adapts to each student profile), in multi-level classes (2 levels per class), on a Romand and French study planand which covers the whole schooling : either from age 3 (Petite enfance) through to the end of their studies (preparation for the Maturité suisse or Baccalauréat français examinations)
In primary, teachers draw up a weekly activity book for each child, targeting personal goals to be achieved.
In Cycle, the work plan, resources and assessments are individualized. In the 11th year of the cycle, the focus is on self-discovery (innate aptitudes and interests) for academic and career guidance, including work placements.
The Cycle is based on an individualized work plan, resources and assessments.
The Collège is a preparatory class in one or two school years. The child to deepen the notions required to prepare for the Maturité Fédérale or Baccalauréat exams.
In Maturité, the student is monitored, encouraged and trained for the 1st and 2nd partial exams, which he or she presents as an independent candidate, in Lausanne. Recognized by the SEFRI as a preparatory school, the Work of Maturity is supported within the school and counts for the final defense.
For the Baccalauréat, our partnership with the CNED (Centre National d'Etudes à Distance), an establishment accredited by the French Education Nationale, grants us the benefit of continuous assessment for students registered for the exams, as well as a wide choice of options.
The Athena School Group also offers extracurricular activities: open to all!
