massage practice
Classic massage
Classic or Swedish massage is one of the best-known types of massage worldwide. It is a manual treatment therapy for the musculoskeletal system that works on the body through pressure, pulling, shaking, and tapping. The effect extends from the area being treated, for example the arm, to the whole body and also to the psyche. The client becomes calmer and can relax.
Areas of application for the classic massage
- Tension and cramps
- Neck and back pain
- Headaches
- Muscular disorders/complaints
- Joint or spinal problems
- Release of adhesions and scar tissue
- Muscle relaxation
- Improved blood circulation
- Stress reduction
- Relaxing and calming
Manual lymphatic drainage according to Dr. Vodder
In the 1930s, Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife Astrid noticed enlarged lymph nodes in the necks of many patients who came to France for treatment. This led them to develop manual lymphatic drainage. Using pumping, circular, and pushing movements, they were able to drain and release these blockages. The principle of lymphatic drainage is to release lymphatic congestion slowly, using rhythmic movements that are completely painless.
Effects of manual lymphatic drainage
1. Stimulates lymphatic motor function. This means that lymph flow is increased and more lymph fluid is transported away.
2. De-edematizing effect. This means, for example, that a swollen arm is decongested and drained. Depending on the type of edema and its indentability, the massage pressure must be adjusted.
3. Pain relief during manual lymphatic drainage
4. Has a relaxing and calming effect.
5. The muscles are affected. Overacidified, hardened muscles are purified thanks to increased metabolic transport. This results in rapid, painless regeneration of the muscle fibers.
6. The smooth muscles of the intestinal wall are stimulated, cramps are relieved, and intestinal activity is stimulated.
The Dorn Method (according to Dieter Dorn)
The spine is the protective covering of our spinal cord, the central control organ for all our bodily functions. The nerves originating from the spine supply all organs and tissues. If one or more vertebrae are displaced, blocked, or misaligned, the corresponding organs can no longer be optimally supplied, and disorders such as migraines, sensory disturbances, digestive problems, and joint pain can occur, even without pain.
The aim is to realign displaced vertebrae and joints, thereby correcting functional disorders of the spine. In this method, the vertebrae are realigned by applying lateral pressure to the spinous process or transverse process. This protects the ligaments, muscles, and tendons of the spine.
With gentle realignment according to Dorn, the spine can be straightened in relatively few sessions and many seemingly therapy-resistant ailments can be addressed and remedied at their root cause.
