History
When you look at the beautiful and old timber-framed house from the 16th century in the middle of the village center in Zollikon, you can feel the long history that this time-honored building radiates.
The inn project was approved in 1557, with the municipality providing a loan of 90 pounds. The inauguration of the Rössli took place in 1562.
Except for the church, the Rössli was the only public building. The Rössli Journeymen's House not only catered for the journeymen on their travels, it was also where village life took place. For hundreds of years, it was the social hub of Zollikon and was used as a hostel for travelers, as a village pub and as a meeting place for the court and the community. In 1955, the Restaurant Rössli underwent a renovation of the restaurant and kitchen and in 2007 a complete refurbishment and reopening. In 1995, the Bürgerverband Alt Zollikon (BVAZ) acquired the building.
Even today, you can still feel in these beautiful old rooms that generations of families and many guests always enjoy visiting the Rössli!
