The Group for a Switzerland without an Army (GSoA) is a political movement founded in 1982. It is an anti-militarist organization that opposes any Swiss involvement in wars and is committed to global justice. The GSoA is organized on a grassroots democratic basis and uses direct democratic instruments such as popular initiatives and referendums to achieve its goals. One of its most famous actions was the 1989 initiative to abolish the army. The organization is driven by activists and volunteers.
