Since 1981, the World Children's Villages of the "Sisters of Mary" have been contributing financially to the poor relief work of the "Sisters of Mary," primarily to the maintenance of homes for girls and boys in Asia, Latin America, and Tanzania. The association is exempt from tax according to the ruling of the Zurich Cantonal Tax Office.

In the 2022 calendar year, the Zurich office was able to transfer 2.5 million Swiss francs to the Sisters of Mary. Several thousand private donors, as well as church communities and foundations, loyally support the sisters' protégés.

The association submits to an annual audit by a certified public accountant. Each year, the accountant certifies that the association's accounts are in order and that donations are forwarded in accordance with the statutes. An international audit report provides information about the congregation's care for the poor and also about the use of donations from Switzerland.

The World Children's Villages are a support group that exclusively supports the poverty relief projects of the Sisters of Mary. The association in Zurich does not have its own project department. All planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects in Asia and Latin America are carried out by the Sisters of Mary on site.
