Collegio Papio

Via delle Cappelle 1, 6612 Ascona
Choosing the Collegio Papio

The identity aspect of the Papal College is in fact guaranteed by the concern to introduce young people to a knowledge of the world, of life and of man, in which the spiritual dimension finds its place. Recurrences such as Christmas and Easter are emphasized with significant meetings that help students to reflect on issues such as solidarity with poor countries, the suffering of peoples at war, etc... Collegio Papio was founded in 1584 by Cardinal Carlo Borromeo thanks to a legacy bequeathal by Bartolomeo Papio, a patrician from Ascona who went Rome. The centuries-old history of the College has been very eventful; many different religious orders have succeeded each other in its running over the years, the last of which were the Benedictines of Einsiedeln (1924-1964) who ended the long papal era. In fact, in 1965, the College passed to the Diocese of Lugano. The origins of the present scholastic structure date back to the 1920s, when the Benedictine Fathers of Einsiedeln gave new impetus to the College and succeeded in obtaining the organisation of the Federal Secondary School ("Matura") Examination in Locarno. Currently the Collegio Papio has an equalized middle school and a high school that prepares for the Swiss Baccalaureate Examination. For some years now, it has also been offering a preparation course for the Passerella exam, aimed at students who have obtained the Professional Maturity Certificate and intend to continue their studies at university. The College also offers a personalized curriculum for talents, be they sportsmen, musicians or others. The only school in Canton Ticino to offer both male and female internships, the College has extended its schedule in recent years to also cover weekends, thus meeting the needs of the growing number of foreign students. In addition to the ancient parts of the structure, the Renaissance cloister and the seventeenth-century garden, the Collegio has added modern facilities for the benefit of students including a swimming pool, gym and technologically advanced science laboratory classrooms. The educational vanguard of the College is guaranteed not only by a qualified and continuously trained teaching staff, but also by a good supply of scientific and computer instruments and an exclusive range of offers: early English at the Middle School, language exchanges at private schools in the French and German-speaking area, international language certificates, participation in study weeks organized by the Science and Youth Foundation, Kangourou mathematics competitions, etc.. An offer, therefore, that stimulates talent, but also supported by support tools such as assisted studies, the time of introduction to the study and the Tutor in ninth grade. The Collegio Papio Foundation, established in 2008, guarantees the management of the company with careful financial, marketing and scholarship management, which ensures that families with low incomes also attend the Collegio. Particular attention is paid to the management of the staff; periodic individual interviews are aimed at fostering individual development and the consequently enrichment of the group. The Foundation is also engaged in infrastructure improvement; the start of the next school year will see the opening of the New Wing comprising kitchen and canteen facilities.

CogitoSwiss: Tailored Excellence in Academic Support

CogitoSwiss stands out as a tutoring centre where excellence and personalised tutoring are paramount. With a team of experienced and passionate tutors, we offer tailor-made help in German, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology (bio), management and statistics. Our aim? To help each and every student in the orientation cycle, at college or university to achieve academic success. At the heart of our mission is the belief that education should be adaptive and responsive. As a result, our support courses are designed to respond precisely to the individual needs of our students. Whether reinforcing skills for school tests and exams or preparing for university exams, our tutors work with dedication to ensure a deep and lasting understanding of the subjects taught. German, often perceived as a challenge by French-speaking students, is approached with an engaging methodology that aims to break down language barriers and cultivate an appreciation for the language. In maths, we demystify complex concepts, making subjects accessible and less intimidating. In sciences such as physics and chemistry, our teachers use practical examples to illustrate theories, making learning tangible and engaging. School holiday periods offer ideal opportunities to consolidate knowledge or fill in gaps. CogitoSwiss organises intensive sessions during these periods, allowing students to concentrate fully on their studies without the distractions of everyday school life. These sessions are particularly beneficial for preparing for important exams or for progressing through the programme at an accelerated pace. Our holistic approach goes beyond academic support. We are committed to developing our students' learning skills, teaching them how to study effectively, manage their time and approach exams with confidence. By incorporating proven study strategies and encouraging a positive attitude to learning, we prepare our students to succeed not only in their current studies but also in their future endeavours. At CogitoSwiss, each student is considered unique, with his or her own strengths and challenges. This recognition drives us to personalise our teaching methods, ensuring that each support course is perfectly tailored to the individual. Wine Vinification for Third Parties We provide a service for third-party grape vinification. Grape Sales A portion of the grapes is vinified, the rest sold to other wineries. REQUEST A QUOTE A NEW ERA FOR CANTINA BÖSCIORO In 2004, Enos and his son Sandro, who had just completed his studies at the specialized school of Changins as a winemaker and oenologist, took the big step, dedicating themselves 100% to the winemaking business. The cellar has seen steady growth over the years, and in 2023, the baton was passed to son Sandro, still with the help of the whole family. Today, the cellar produces high-quality wines that reflect the commitment and passion of the Böscioro family for viticulture. THE PRIVILEGED POSITION OF CANTINA BÖSCIORO'S VINEYARDS Cantina Böscioro, located in the Ticino region of Italian-speaking Switzerland, owns several parcels of vineyard land distributed throughout the surrounding area, including those located in the Gerra Piano area, where the cellar is located. The geographical location of the region, with its Mediterranean climate and exposure to the sun, offers optimal conditions for grape cultivation and the production of high-quality wines. In particular, the vineyards are located in hilly areas between Gordola and Gudo, where they benefit from excellent sun exposure that allows for high-quality grapes. Part of the vineyards are partially mechanized with small tools, while another part is located in the plains in Quartino, where another grape variety is cultivated. All this contributes to ensuring the excellence of the wines produced by Cantina Böscioro. PRODUCTION OF HIGH-QUALITY WINES AND ATTENTION TO GRAPE SELECTION Cantina Böscioro is a company dedicated to the production of high-quality wines, carefully selecting the grapes grown in its own vineyards. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the cellar and carefully selected to produce different qualities of wine, including whites, rosés, and reds. In total, approximately 10,000 bottles of wine are produced each year. CONTACT US

CONTACT US
