Who are we and what do we do? The Swiss Red Cross Canton of Zurich is an independent aid organisation in the Canton of Zurich. Together with many volunteers and numerous donors, we work in the canton of Zurich to help people in difficult life situations. In the areas of health, education, social affairs and migration, around 90 employees and over 2,600 volunteers work on behalf of the Zurich Red Cross to help their fellow human beings. We do not differentiate according to origin, religion, political convictions or social status. We provide counselling, direct aid and educational support. When you are losing your sight or have already lost your sight, you need to know that help is readily at hand. We are committed to helping blind and visually impaired people to live as independently as possible. We want to create an inclusive society in which blind and visually impaired people have a high quality of life. And we have been working on our mission every day since 1958 in our capacity as a charitable self-help organisation. We are on hand to support and advise visually impaired people and their families at our seven advice centres – at no cost and with no membership required. Our motto is “Looking ahead together”.
