Description
Welcome to the Sonnenrain residential home
For people with brain injury
Our institution is run by the Sonnenrain Zihlschlacht residential home foundation, which was established in 1994. According to the foundation charter, its purpose is to operate a residential home with employment opportunities to promote and maintain the physical and mental independence of adults with neurological impairments. The residential home opened in 1997 with four residents and 20 employees. Since then, it has grown steadily.
The residential home has been training specialist staff in the areas of nursing, care and housekeeping since 2000. The QM quality management is based on the SODK-OST+ reference system. The opening of the Freihofcity external residential group in Kreuzlingen in 2011 was an important milestone. It also includes a studio within walking distance. Today, 50 people live in the residential home and are looked after by around 125 employees. The residential home is open around the clock throughout the year.
Support & care and employment & work are the areas that make up our residential home.
There are seven residential groups at the Sonnenrain residential home, each with five to eight residents. They are spread across two newer buildings and one listed building, which was renovated in 2015. A further seven residents are accommodated in the Kreuzlingen external residential group. Social interaction within the group is very important to us. At the same time, we offer a high degree of privacy.
In terms of care and nursing, we do everything we can to enable our residents to achieve maximum independence within the scope of their abilities and to give them personal responsibility. The focus is on activating their resources; their quality of life and individuality are our benchmark.
Meaningful and valuable activities are an important focus of the day for many residents at Sonnenrain. The aim is to promote the joy of being active, maintain existing skills and, where possible, develop them. The focus is on people and their resources and needs. The importance of individuality runs like a red thread through the entire employment concept.
The services offered by the Sonnenrain residential home are geared towards the needs and resources of its residents. We attach great importance to the inclusion of their biography and social environment.
We offer forms of living that take into account the complexity of the individual's impairment. In doing so, we assume that it is part of a person's life to learn and develop further. We make this possible by focusing on the strengths and abilities of our residents and supporting them with the aim of achieving the greatest possible independence.
We treat all residents and staff honestly and openly, with appreciation, respect and the necessary closeness and distance.
We welcome and encourage social contact within and outside our residential home. We respect individual habits and lifestyles as well as the right to self-determination.
The quality of our services is regularly reviewed and further developed. Our employees contribute their individual skills to our professional mission. They receive targeted support through internal and external training and further education.
