From the sociology bookshop to the present day

In March 1972, the bookshop for sociology opened its doors on Münstergasse. The store was very small and lacked funds. But the bookshop grew quickly and became a meeting place for information for the impatient. Hope was the principle. In 1982, we took the form of a self-managed limited company: the Münstergass bookshop. Equal pay for all, no hierarchies and monthly information meetings were important to us. However, this was to change quickly in the 1990s, as reality and experience had altered the structures. Continuity and reliability, knowledge and perseverance remained and the Münstergass bookshop is alive and well and will soon be entering its 50th year.

Younger staff have taken over the store and run it prudently and responsibly. The book competence center is alive and in good hands. I have been "AHV-positive" since September 2016. I remain loyal to books and as long as new publications continue to pile up on my bedside table, books and literature are alive and well for me.
