Services
Surgery in the practice
Smaller procedures can be performed in the practice. For example, removal of skin lesions or atheromas and lipomas; wound care, treatment of ingrown toenails (unguis incarnatus), incisions for infections, re-excisions for skin tumors, ... naturally under local anesthesia.
Disorder surgery
In special cases and at the request of GPs or nursing home doctors, I also perform outpatient surgery in retirement and nursing homes.
Major operationsAre performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis in hospital. Should a hospital stay be necessary, I am pleased to be able to offer you the Salemspital . This hospital offers excellent quality in the hospital area as well as state-of-the-art technical infrastructure in the operating theater.
Focus of my workWound treatments
Thanks to my membership of the Swiss Working Group for Wound Treatment (SAfW) and collaboration with wound experts, I try to use optimal conservative wound therapy. I currently also use low-pressure and cold plasma therapy.
Wound surgeryThis basically refers to the surgical treatment of wounds and infections. Debridement (wound cleansing) is often sufficient for superficial wounds.
Surgical treatment of the diabetic foot, amputation and residual limb surgery
20% of all diabetics have a foot problem at some point. Of these problems, around 20% require surgery. The possible effects of diabetes mellitus on the foot include loss of sensation, loss of pain perception and circulatory disorders
Thanks to many years of collaboration with Prof. R. Baumgartner ( † 2018 ), I try to implement and continue his experience. I have the opportunity to treat all stages of the diabetic foot, including osteoarthropathy, in collaboration with other specialists.
Diseased bone often has to be removed in order to preserve the remaining foot and thus the length of the leg. If an amputation is necessary, this is carried out in an individually differentiated manner, according to the principle of maximum limb preservation and its optimal technical-orthopaedic treatment, in order to achieve independent mobility as quickly as possible.
Interdisciplinary collaboration is a prerequisite for success. In recent years, we have been able to establish such a network.
It consists of:
- Diabetologists
- Angiologists and vascular surgeons
- Technical orthopaedists
- Surgeons/orthopaedic surgeons
