A listed historic residence located in the heart of the Old Town, the Maison Tavel is the oldest surviving private dwelling in Geneva and a unique example of medieval civil architecture. Converted into a museum in 1986, its six floors offer visitors the chance to discover the city's urban evolution, as well as various aspects of the past life of its inhabitants. It houses the Relief Magnin, a large scale model of the city, a spectacular reconstruction of Geneva before the demolition of its fortifications in 1850. The Maison Tavel is part of the Musée d'art et d'histoire.
