Our commitment to the cause
I have been processing and selling meat from organic farms since 1993. Since 1999, I have been selling exclusively KAGfreiland meat. My business is inspected annually by bio-inspecta and certified accordingly.
KAGfreiland is the Swiss farm animal welfare organization and also the most animal-friendly organic label in Switzerland. Since 1972, it has been committed to species-appropriate animal husbandry and natural agriculture. Animal welfare and the careful treatment of nature are top priorities at KAGfreiland. For example, it is important that the animals live in a herd. In order for the animals to behave in a manner appropriate to their species, they need opportunities for activity. That is why KAGfreiland pigs are given material to root in and KAGfreiland goats have raised areas in their stalls and outdoor runs. All animals can go outside every day, summer and winter. KAGfreiland is the only label that allows animals to be transported a maximum of only 30 km or 1 hour.
KAGfreiland is a non-profit organization that is financed to over 90% by membership fees and donations. It has had a significant impact on Swiss agricultural policy in recent years. Many issues are only discussed because KAGfreiland brings them to the public's attention (e.g., piglet castration without anesthesia, chick culling, rabbit farming). KAGfreiland does not just talk about abuses, but also works on projects to develop solutions and then puts them into practice.
KAGfreiland and its affiliated farmers can only sustain this effort if there are consumers who buy their products. If you are also interested, I would be delighted to hear from you or receive your order. We travel every Friday from Wädenswil via Zurich to Dietlikon in a refrigerated vehicle and can deliver to you. The meat is vacuum-packed in small portions and labeled according to your wishes. There is no minimum order quantity and we do not charge a small quantity surcharge.
