On April 1, 1980, the company Kalt + Knecht + Sutter AG was founded by Fridolin Kalt, Meinrad Knecht and Armin Sutter.

The workshop and storage facilities were located at Leuggernstrasse 91 in Leibstadt and were already equipped with modern machinery for their time. After just two years, the fledgling company had to accept Fridolin Kalt's death in a traffic accident. As a result, the company name was changed to Knecht + Sutter AG.

An intensive search was made for a larger property, which was then found in the former Wegrotex building on Bahnhofstrasse. The company continued to develop at this location for around ten years.
In order to enable the company to continue in the future, a new building had been under consideration for some time.

In 2005, these plans were implemented and work began on the new building on Krummackerweg. After just over a year, the modern premises were ready to move into in October 2006. In order to be able to utilize the potential of these premises in the future, the sons of the two company founders became partners in the company management in 2008.
