In 1970, Vincenzo Colciaghi opened in Lugano at 18 Via alla Stazione (today's salita Chiattone) the store "La cornice" where he carries out, helped by his wife Ida, the activities of:

• Framing of paintings, prints, mirrors, etc.
.
• Restoration of frames, shelves, candelabra and other objects or sculptures made of gilded wood.
• Restoration of paintings.
• Sale of fine arts items.

In 1977, "The Frame" moved to its current location at A. Giacometti 1 in Lugano, and in the same year his son Fabrizio joined the company as a framing apprentice. After obtaining the relevant diploma and gaining the necessary experience Fabrizio Colciaghi took over the management of the store.

In June 1997 to the above activities is added with the opening inside the store of the space "the ray" the exhibition activity.

In 2001 the company name changes from : "La cornice di Vincenzo Colciaghi" to "La cornice SA".

On July 1, 2005 Silvio Di Renzo joined the "team" of "La cornice" also as a framer, immediately proving to be a valuable and trusted collaborator.

As of January 1, 2019, the activities of the gallery "the ray" and the collaboration with Mr. Domingo Sampietro, whom we thank for his valuable work over the past twenty-one years, have ceased.

With an exhibition dedicated to the Milanese painter residing in Bergamo Claudio Granaroli on February 26, 2019, the activity of: "LA CORNICE exhibition space"
