Orthodontics
Orthodontics and maxillofacial orthopedics are branches of dentistry that deal with the diagnosis and correction of abnormalities in the position of the teeth and jaws. The aim is to achieve ideal dentition that functions well in the long term, does not cause problems, and is aesthetically pleasing and in harmony with the face. Correct dentition is important for function (joints, teeth, digestion, phonation) and for the prevention of damage.
During an initial consultation, it will be determined whether there is a malocclusion and/or incorrect jaw position that requires treatment.
If treatment is subsequently recommended, a second appointment will be made to create the medical reports (X-rays, plaster models, photographs) that are necessary for a precise analysis and planning.
During a consultation with the parent/patient, these results will be presented along with a treatment proposal and cost estimate.
Treatments
There are various methods of treatment, and each appliance has its own specific indication. The choice depends exclusively on the problem to be corrected.
Our practice offers:
Orthodontics for children, adolescents, and adults with fixed appliances (visible and invisible) and removable appliances
Orthopedic orthodontics
Pre-prosthetic orthodontics (to prepare the ideal situation for inserting implants or bridges)
Pre-surgical orthodontics (in combination with maxillofacial surgery)
Orthodontics with Aligner (transparent aligners)
Orthodontics with skeletal anchors using palatal implants and micro-screws
Growth monitoring and supervision
Therapy for sleep apnea
Specialist in orthodontics (CH)
The title of orthodontic specialist CH means that a dentist has completed at least three years of training at a Swiss university in addition to their SSO dental training and has passed a specific exam to obtain the title. (details www.swissortho.ch) The country of origin where the training was completed is indicated in brackets in the title specification. The Swiss Dental Association (SSO) only guarantees the quality of training carried out in Switzerland, and this standard is considered to be very good worldwide.
Fees
Generally, the costs of orthodontic treatment are borne by the parent/patient. Some health insurance companies contribute to the costs if there is supplementary dental insurance. We advise parents to check with their respective companies for possible reimbursement. Our practice uses the SSO (Swiss Dental Association) fee schedule for billing, with a point value of 3.1/1.00 (minimum).
Treatment for serious anomalies that exceed certain limits is covered by disability insurance (AI) up to the age of 20. In this case, the specialist will inform you accordingly and advise you on how to obtain AI contributions.
