From nature to the palate
A very special year...
In 1867, the estate asserted its independence and built its own winery, whose large vaulted cellar has a unique architectural character.
This year has been a very special one in many ways. Françoise Berguer, Switzerland's first female winemaker, ran Les Gondettes with a masterful hand until her death in August 2019.
After being her right-hand woman (and left-hand woman, as she liked to say!) for more than a quarter of a century, I took up the torch at the end of 2019.
The year 2020 therefore marked a major turning point for the winery.
2020, a daunting challenge!
Like my predecessor, I attach particular importance to the authenticity and quality of my wines. In order to limit intervention during the winemaking process, the vines are cultivated with great care throughout the seasons by a loyal and meticulous team. The grapes obtained are of exemplary quality, as reflected in the wines of the 2019 vintage and the very promising 2020 vintage.
This new chapter has been marked by a new impetus, but also by an unprecedented health crisis. It has been a difficult transition, but one that has strengthened the desire and passion that drive me every day. Today more than ever, I want to perpetuate the spirit of Les Gondettes, breathing new life into it and offering you ever more pleasure and conviviality.
A slight facelift around an iconic vine
Newly at the helm of Les Gondettes, I first tackled the estate's aging visual identity. Thanks to invaluable help from my family, the labels have been streamlined and given a fresh new look. The range of wines has also been standardized for greater clarity and readability.
As part of these changes, it was particularly important to me to honor the estate's long tradition. To do this, the original logo has been retained. It consists of a vine shoot, a leaf, a tendril, and a few grapes. Now, textured white paper enhances it while adding a touch of modernity. Finally, its color varies according to the different grape varieties.
The "facelift" doesn't stop there, as a brand-new website is now up and running. Thanks to these adjustments, the estate is increasingly asserting its position between nature and authenticity, while keeping in step with the times.
2019 vintage: three times more passion in every glass!
In the cellar, three new nectars proudly take their place in the 2019 vintage: Chasselas sur lie, aged for 11 months in one of my illustrious oak casks, a fresh and fruity Gamay rosé, and a rich and structured Gamaret rosé with light notes of grapefruit.
And what about art?
Due to the current health situation, the traditional biannual exhibitions have unfortunately had to be postponed until next year. Of course, it's only a postponement. Together with the artists, I look forward to seeing you in 2021 for what promises to be, as usual, a warm and friendly event.
And now, you're probably eager to taste it!
That's perfect, because I welcome you to the cellar on Saturday mornings between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or by appointment, in compliance with current health regulations. I would be delighted to show you the range of new products.
I wish you, dear customers, all the best for your happiness and health. Above all, take good care of yourselves and your loved ones.
With kind regards,
Alain GRABER
