Restaurant du Commerce – About us
G. Siegfried, owner and host
Giancarla Siegfried is a career changer who, in addition to passing her master's examination at a young age, also obtained a restaurant management certificate from the renowned Baselland Restaurant Management School.
What does this passionate hostess say about herself?
"My restaurant is an extension of my living room. I need to feel comfortable here and the atmosphere must be tasteful. Because I want to be able to welcome my guests here as if they were at home."

A piece of history
The yellow house was built around 400 years ago by the brother of Solothurn's mayor Niklaus Wengi. Niklaus Wengi stood in front of the cannons during the Reformed uprising, thus preventing bloodshed.

The yellow house used to be a bank – hence the name Commerce – which traded in Northwest Swiss railway shares and went bankrupt in 1870 due to the Franco-Prussian War.
After that, the Adler wine shop moved into the house and opened a tavern.
In 1904, the house was purchased by Pasquale Crivelli and his wife. After their death, the house passed into the hands of their son Aldo and his wife Gertrud Crivelli-Stolz. From then on, the restaurant was leased for 35 years.
