Restaurant du Commerce - About us
G. Siegfried, owner and hostess
Giancarla Siegfried is a career changer and, in addition to passing her master craftsman's examination at a young age, has also obtained a host's certificate from the renowned Baselland host school.
What does the thoroughbred hostess say about herself?
"My restaurant is my extended living room. I have to feel comfortable here and the ambience has to be tasteful. Because I want to be able to welcome my guests here as if they were at home."

A piece of history
The yellow house was built around 400 years ago by the brother of the Solothurn mayor Niklaus Wengi. Niklaus Wengi stood in front of the cannons during the uprising of the reformed and thus prevented bloodshed.

The yellow house used to be a bank - hence the name Commerce - which traded in Northwestern Swiss railroad shares and went bankrupt in 1870 due to the Franco-Prussian War.
After that, the Adler wine shop moved into the house and opened a tavern.
In 1904, the house was purchased by Pasquale Crivelli and his wife. After her death, the house passed into the hands of her son Aldo and his wife Gertrud Crivelli-Stolz. From then on, the restaurant was leased out for 35 years.
