Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy sounds strange and scary. But what does psychotherapy actually involve? The fears include thoughts such as: "Is he trying to influence me?", "Will I have to take pills for the rest of my life?" or "If the others find out!". A good therapist should be able to address and discuss these fears. The aim must be for the patient to feel comfortable, to have a space in which they feel safe and in which a therapeutic relationship can be established.
It is the relationship that has the greatest, most healing effect!
The special thing about therapy with children and adolescents is that the family, caregivers and the environment are an essential part of the therapy. The whole system must always change in order for a change to take place in the child or adolescent. It is therefore essential that parents participate regularly in the process.
