With us, the atmosphere is simple, warm, and authentic — a bookshop “like when you were young,” with a reading corner to settle in, a children’s area to browse peacefully, and personalized advice to help you leave with the right book. Our story We opened our doors in Rolle in 1987 . The bookshop has grown over the years thanks to a passionate team and the loyalty of local readers. In August 2022 , we began a new chapter: Laure Paccaud , a Rolloise who returned after ten years abroad, took over the bookshop of her childhood. The adventure continues with family and our team, in the same spirit: closeness, curiosity, and the desire to share books that make you feel alive. Our mission today is the same as yesterday: to be a human-scale , responsive, welcoming bookstore, able to combine major new releases with unexpected discoveries. Careful grape selection, gentle destemming that preserves the skin, short maceration of 1 to 2 days for whites and 8 to 16 days for reds, combined with “Vinatura” certification, guarantee flawless quality. The Festive ¹ At once traditional and a little daring, these wines exalt everyday pleasure and joy, especially during celebrations and rituals. The production of late-harvest and passerillé wines depends on the year and grape variety. Born in Switzerland, Jean-Michel grew up in a family deeply rooted in viticultural tradition. At the age of fourteen and a half, he began working alongside his father, creating his first wine, “La Feuillette.” This was the beginning of a passion that would shape his entire life. Jean-Michel refined his expertise by working in several prestigious estates around the world, notably in France, Italy, and the United States. Among the estates that benefited from his expertise are Château Pape Clément, La Tour Carnet, and Robert Mondavi’s estate in California. These international experiences allowed him to develop a deep mastery of different winemaking techniques. Philosophy and Winemaking Methods : Jean-Michel is a perfectionist who places quality above all else. He is the only one to craft his wines according to a rigorous and traditional method, favoring micro-vinification and unique artisanal techniques. He is particularly recognized for his refusal to use modern materials such as stainless steel, preferring ancestral practices such as aging in carefully selected wooden barrels. Every detail of winemaking is handled by Jean-Michel himself, from the manual harvesting of grapes to the prolonged aging in barrels. The Winemaking Process : • Grapes are hand-harvested and cooled before vinification to preserve their aromas. • Fermentation is carefully controlled, often in special tanks such as the spherical “Galiléo.” • Barrel aging, sometimes for more than two years, develops complex aromas and a silky texture. • No chemicals or modern techniques are used, ensuring purity and authenticity. Exceptional Wines : Among Jean-Michel’s most remarkable creations are wines such as “Mon Chéri,” “Le Délice de Camille,” and “Ma Mère M’a Dit.” Each of these wines is crafted with particular attention to detail and deep respect for viticultural tradition.
