The Märtplatz Foundation is a training institution for young people facing psychological and social challenges. Around 45 individuals are trained in eleven workshops and studios, usually aged between 16 and 25. Vocational training takes place in a protected environment, with subsequent integration into the primary job market. Most trainees are referred by the disability insurance authority, in some cases by the juvenile court or a social services agency. The focus of the training is on the individual – their talents, interests, and abilities: strengths are nurtured, and manual, technical, and professional skills are learned and deepened. The training process takes into account specific difficulties and deficits. In this way, we offer all trainees a personalized education – in manual, creative, culinary, and technical professions. The goal is successful training and sustainable integration into the workforce. The following qualifications are offered: Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (EFZ), Federal Vocational Certificate (EBA), and Practical Training according to INSOS (PrA). The Märtplatz Foundation was established in 1985 and is based in Freienstein, Zurich. The workshops and studios are located on the grounds of a former cotton spinning mill. Two shops are located in Embrach, and one in Rorbas.

In our café bars we offer daily healthy and fresh lunch menus as well as homemade sandwiches, salads and sweets at fair prices. Our foundation's own bakery makes our baked goods by hand every day. Some of our vegetables, herbs and salads are sourced from our organic market garden in Glattfelden, the meat is Swiss and the fish is sustainably farmed. We cook seasonally and make sure to use regional as well as organic products. Enzian Foundation For about 20 years we have been accompanying people with health restrictions in our special schools and businesses to enter the first job market.

Protecting and promoting a “Memory of the World” library The Martin Bodmer (Zurich 1899-Geneva 1971) Foundation was created in 1971 and aims to protect the library left to it by its founder, and make it accessible to the general public. Throughout his life, Martin Bodmer amassed a vast collection of thousands of exceptional pieces (hundreds of papyruses, western and eastern medieval manuscripts, handwritten pages, first editions, rare engravings, and precious illustrations), which bring together the great texts of world litterature and of human history. This Bibliotheca Bodmeriana is considered as one of the best private collections in the world and has been listed as part of the UNESCO “Memory of the World” Programme since 2015. In order to achieve its twin objectives of protecting and promoting the collection. The Foundation has created its own restoration and digitalisation workshops, as well as a museum which houses permanent and temporary exibitions. The Foundation enjoys a unique setting in the hillside of Cologny, with a spectacular view of Lake Geneva and the city of Geneva. The Solar Agency Switzerland (SAS) is an independent, non-profit organisation based in Zurich. Since its foundation in 1990, it has been consistently committed to promoting the use of renewable solar energy and energy-efficient architecture in Switzerland. Its main objective is to strengthen awareness, commitment and innovation in the field of solar energy - at an individual, corporate and institutional level. A central instrument of this promotion is the Swiss Solar Prize, which the SAS has awarded annually since 1991. It honours exemplary achievements in the fields of construction, architecture, energy production, innovation and personal commitment. The prize recognises pioneering PlusEnergyBuildings (PEB) as well as energy-efficient renovations of old buildings, technological innovations and committed individuals. Since 2010, the prestigious Norman Foster Solar Award has also been presented for outstanding PEBs. The SAS sees itself as a bridge builder between research, practice and the public. With its award ceremonies, specialist publications and information campaigns, it makes a significant contribution to the visualisation of successful solar projects. At the same time, it promotes dialogue between architects, energy planners, building owners, municipalities and the general public.
