Description
What are orthoses?
Orthosis (Greek: supporting apparatus): Orthopaedic technical aid that rests externally on the trunk or a limb. It replaces missing static or dynamic body functions by relieving, guiding or fixing, corrects malpositions or can support a healing process.
Tasks of leg orthoses:
- Length compensation
- Stabilization (restriction of unphysiological or undesired movement)
- Guidance of the passive musculoskeletal system
- Securing the active musculoskeletal system
- Fixation prevention of movement
- Correction (improvement of malpositions)
- Redression: Return from the malposition
- Quivering: Passive mobilization with little force over a long period of time
- Retention: Holding in the corrected position
- Relief / extension
What are prostheses?
A prosthesis is a limb replacement. Indicated after loss of a limb, e.g. after illness, accident, congenital defects.
Toe replacement
Indication
Toe replacement after amputation of the toe(s), e.g. after an accident, diabetes mellitus.e.g. after accident, diabetes mellitus, tumors, AVK and others
Intended use
Can be combined with or incorporated into an insole. Can also be used individually with a silicone replacement toe as a placeholder.
Mainly to prevent malformation of the toes. Inward rotation of the toes, and thus a new problem, can be avoided.
Pyrogoff prosthesis
Indication
Pyrogoff amputation, heel bone (calcaneus) and shin bone (tibia) are fixed together. The forefoot and midfoot are amputated.
Status after accident, AVK, diabetes mellitus and others
Intended use
Because the heel bone and sole skin are preserved, the foot can be subjected to very good weight-bearing zones. Due to the lack of a forefoot lever, the prosthesis must be built up to below the knee so that good force transmission can take place.
Lower leg prosthesis with liner
Indication
Amputation of the lower leg after accident, diabetes mellitus, tumors, CAV, AVK and more
Intended use
The fundamental goal of every prosthetic fitting is mobility and the associated verticalization. Patients should be able to return to their everyday lives.
The treatment can be fitted with a silicone liner or gel liner
Knee disarticulation prosthesis
Indication
Amputation through the knee joint. The femur and the kneecap are preserved. There will be no or only minor surgical changes to the femur.
Intended use
The amputation height knee disarticulation is one of the best for treatment, as this height ensures limb-end loading. The femur is treated with little or no surgery.
Soft inner funnel, cast hard outer funnel, with residual limb end loading and guidance above the condyles.
For knee flexion, various knee joints are available from various manufacturers.
Prosthetic feet are available from various manufacturers (dynamic articulated feet or articulated feet). Thanks to the different products, we can provide a very good individual fitting. For the cosmetics of the artificial leg, we use foam sleeves that can be easily molded to the shape of the other leg. The construction is carried out using the modular method.
Tibial prosthesis
Indication
Reasons for amputation
- Amputation of the thigh after an accident
- Amputation after illness
- Diabetes, tumor, AVK and others
- Post-amputations
Intended use
Because of the lost limb, it is extremely important to start rehabilitation and verticalization as early as possible.
We have various products available for this purpose.
Tibial prosthesis
Indication
Due to dysmelia (congenital absence of limbs)
Intended use
For therapeutic purposes, a prosthetic fitting should be started as soon as walking begins in the case of congenital malformations (dysmelia).
The prosthesis is built without a knee joint in the first years of life.
Jewelry arm
Indication
After forearm amputation due to trauma
Congenital dysmelia
Intended use
As a jewelry prosthesis without function, hand is passive.
Silicone gloves, very good cosmetic compensation

Insoles
Acclimatization period
As insoles mean a correction of the foot, an adaptation period of approx. two weeks is to be expected until the muscles and ligaments of the foot have adapted to the new situation. This is also the time of our first check-up.
Check-ups
The first check-up should always take place after two weeks. Further check-ups for adolescent restorations after approx. four to six months. For adults, this can take place after six months or as required. However, regular check-ups are recommended in order to achieve better and faster success.
Cleaning
We recommend washing the thermoplastic insoles regularly with normal soapy water. Leather-coated insoles do not require any special care.
