ALVAD, the Locarno and Maggia Valley Home Care Association, was founded on October 5, 1999, as a private association (Art. 60 et seq. CCS). Today, in accordance with the Home Care and Assistance Act of November 30, 2010 (LACD), ALVAD is recognized by the State Council as a SACD (Home Care and Assistance Service) of public interest for the Locarno and Vallemaggia area. In Vallemaggia, the service is provided independently, through a service contract, by AVAD (Associazione Valmaggese Casa Anziani, Invalidi Adulti e Aiuto Domiciliare - Valmaggia Association for the Elderly, Disabled Adults and Home Help). ALVAD is a non-denominational and non-partisan association, does not pursue profit-making aims, and is recognized as a public utility for tax purposes.
The members of ALVAD are:
• all municipalities in the districts of Locarno and Vallemaggia
• Organizations and associations based or active in the districts of Locarno and Vallemaggia, which carry out their activities in the field of home care and assistance and have paid their membership fees
• Any natural or legal persons who have paid the annual membership fee may also become members without voting rights
Purpose
ALVAD aims to enable anyone who, due to illness, accident, disability, maternity, old age, or social and family difficulties, needs care and assistance to remain in their own home. The provision of these services is subsidiary to the personal and family resources of users; each individual may benefit from the provision of services in a form compatible with the resources available in the area (Articles 1 and 2 of the LACD).
Objectives
• To promote, through preventive measures, the maintenance of the population's health
• Ensure continuity in the treatment and care process, allowing patients to return home after hospitalization
• Provide practical help with daily household activities
• Assisting those who need continuous care and assistance by offering support to families.
