Conservative and post-operative treatments in the fields of traumatology, orthopedics, rheumatology, neurology, vascular medicine (various types of edema), pediatrics (school-age children and adolescents), geriatrics, scar treatment (burns), pelvic floor rehabilitation (women only).
TEAM AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
The practice is made up of a close-knit and dynamic team of three qualified physiotherapists and two secretaries. We are able to accommodate patients who speak Italian, French, German, and English. We also provide home treatments (on medical recommendation).
The practice takes a medical approach, focusing on both the treatment of symptoms and their subsequent prevention, as well as on active rehabilitation.
We also offerwellness-related approaches ( such as decontracting therapies, physical therapies, and/or massages) and instruction on specific topics (such as posture or the correct use of weights for those who practice sports).
Great importance is therefore attached to post-diploma training, which allows us to cover a very wide range of cases and to welcome patients suffering from numerous conditions, even when combined. Some of the training we have undergone:
complete training (3 levels) in manual therapy according to Maitland
complete training in medical lymphatic drainage and related compression bandaging (at CHUV and with CAS in "Angiology" at SUPSI)
training in pediatric rehabilitation (with CAS in "Pediatric Rehabilitation" at SUPSI)
training on unstable shoulders (at SUPSI)
training in pelvic floor and female incontinence (with CAS in "Female Health Rehabilitation," training that includes musculoskeletal, medical, and classic sports rehabilitation for women)
training in special orthopedic tests (at SUPSI)
Trigger Point and Dry Needling training (at SUPSI and IMMT)
Kinetic Control training (postural control)
training in physiotherapy rehabilitation for patients with severe burns (at CHUV)
Kinesio Taping training (application of adhesive tape for rehabilitation and sports purposes)
specific training in scientific research in physiotherapy (at SUPSI)
THE PRACTICE:
The simple but welcoming studio, measuring approximately 100m2, consists of a reception area, four treatment rooms (cubicles), and two spaces dedicated to exercises, both bodyweight and with equipment. Located near Lugano (Montagnola), it overlooks a square with numerous public parking spaces and a convenient bus stop.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER (of Romeo Castelbuono - owner of the studio):
I took over the physiotherapy practice in 2014, introducing continuous innovations that are still in place today, following previous work experiences that have shaped the practice's medical approach:
Clinica Ars Medica (Gravesano), from 2004 to 2014, as a physiotherapist and, from 2009, also as Deputy Manager and Coordinator of the Outpatient Group of the physiotherapy department. Also responsible for training students on internships. Main cases treated: orthopedics, traumatology, neurosurgery, conservative and post-operative rheumatology, simple and complex.
CHUV (University Hospital of the Canton of Vaud), in Lausanne, from 2002 to 2004, as a physiotherapist and trainer of students from Ticino on internships. Main cases: orthopedics, traumatology (including multiple trauma), rehabilitation of patients with severe burns, respiratory therapy in the continuous care unit.
Lecturer at SUPSI D-SAN (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, Department of Health) in Manno from 2007 to 2013, teaching certain rehabilitation topics as part of the Bachelor's degree program in physiotherapy.
Lecturer at SSMT ( Higher Technical Medical School) in Lugano from 2002 to 2008, teaching physiotherapy, covering certain rehabilitation topics and clinical reasoning.
Lecturer at Scuola Club, Lugano and Locarno, from 2006 to 2013, in massage therapy, fitness instructor, and group fitness instructor training programs, teaching anatomy and physiology.
