Description
From nature to the palate
A very special year...
- IN News
In 1867, the estate asserted its independence and built its winery, whose wide-vaulted cellar has a unique architectural cachet.
This proved to be a very special year, and for several reasons. Françoise Berguer, Switzerland's first female winemaker, ran Les Gondettes with a masterful hand, until her passing in August 2019.
After having been her right (and left, she liked to say!) hand for over a quarter of a century, I took over at the end of 2019.
The year 2020 therefore marked a major turning point for the winery.
2020, a major challenge!
Like my predecessor, I attach particular importance to the authenticity and quality of my wines. In order to limit intervention during the winemaking process, the vines are cultivated with great care over the seasons by a loyal and meticulous team. The resulting grapes are of exemplary quality, as perfectly reflected in the wines of the 2019 vintage and those of the very promising 2020 vintage.
This new chapter has been punctuated by new momentum, but also by an unprecedented health crisis. It's been a difficult transition, but one that reinforces the desire and passion that drive me every day. Today, more than ever, I want to perpetuate the soul of Les Gondettes, breathing new life into it and offering you ever more pleasure and conviviality.
Light facelift around an iconic vine
New at the helm of Les Gondettes, I first tackled the estate's aging visual identity. Thanks to invaluable family help, the labels have been streamlined and now have a new look. The range of vintages has also been standardized for greater clarity and legibility.
As part of these changes, I was particularly keen to honor the estate's long tradition. To this end, the original logo has been retained. It features a vine shoot, a leaf and a tendril, as well as a few grapes. Now, a structured white paper enhances it and adds a modern touch. Lastly, its color varies according to the different grape varieties.
The "facelift" doesn't stop there: a brand-new website is now up and running. Thanks to these adjustments, the estate is increasingly asserting its positioning oscillating between nature and authenticity while keeping up with the times.
Millésime 2019: 3 times more passion in the glasses!
As for the cellar, three new nectars proudly take pride of place on the 2019 vintage bill; Chasselas sur lie, aged for 11 months in one of my illustrious oak foudres, a Gamay rosé, fresh and fruity, as well as a rich, structured Gamaret rosé with light grapefruit notes.
And the art of winemaking.
What about art?
As a result of the health situation, the traditional biannual exhibitions have unfortunately had to be postponed until next year. Of course, this is just a postponement. Accompanied by the artists, I look forward to seeing you again in 2021 for what will be, as usual, a warm and convivial occasion.
And now, you're invited to join us for the next edition of our exhibition.
And now, no doubt, you'd like to taste!
Good timing, I welcome you to the winery on Saturday mornings between 9am and 5pm, or by appointment in compliance with current health regulations. On this occasion, I'd be delighted to show you the range of new products.
I wish you, dear customers, the very best of health and happiness. And above all, take good care of yourself and your loved ones.
With kind regards,
Alain GRABER
