Description
Welcome to the Chutz
In July 1963, the painter Ferdinand Kaus opened the Chutz restaurant on Landhausquai in Solothurn. The building with exposed concrete and a staircase with concrete banisters caused amazement among the people of Solothurn in the 1960s - the modern architecture and ambience remain unique to this day.
With regular exhibitions, jazz concerts and the beginnings of the Solothurn Film Festival, the Chutz restaurant soon became an institution and the place to be.
The terrace on the sunny side invites you to linger and is also a popular meeting place.
Today, the restaurant is run by Marta Kaus. Thanks to Marta, the legacy of her husband Ferdinand, who died in 1996, continues to be upheld in his spirit. With her trusted team, she is the soul of the Chutz and cooks her guests homemade specialties.
Locals and out-of-towners, families and a loyal regular clientele: visitors appreciate the special and unique ambience. Not forgetting jazz lovers, who get their money's worth at the Sunday matinées.
