Description
Ultrasonic waves, shock waves and TPS
The TPS® treatment consists of short sound pulses that stimulate the brain very precisely down to a depth of approx. 8 cm. Shock waves are acoustic pulses that are characterized by high, positive pressure amplitudes and a very steep increase in pressure compared to the ambient pressure. They can briefly transfer energy from the point of generation to distant areas and produce therapeutic effects.
Shock waves have long been used in medicine. While they were originally used to break up kidney stones, today they are used in orthopaedic pain therapy or in the treatment of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Approval studies are also being prepared for Parkinson's patients.
Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) is an innovative, non-invasive therapy for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, dementia and Parkinson's disease. Targeted sound waves are used to stimulate brain activity, which can lead to improved blood flow and cognitive performance.
