ECAP is a non-commercial and non-profit adult education institute in Switzerland. Headquartered in Zurich, there are nine regional branches throughout Switzerland. With its courses, the intercultural organisation enables the education of migrants and employees in general, including those with little formal education. With more than 50,000 participants per year, ECAP is the second largest adult education institute in Switzerland – and the number one school for German and integration courses. The basic practical training lasts 12 hours and consists of modules 1-2-3, which must be completed in chronological order. Those who obtained the A1 license (before 01/01/2021) and wish to obtain the A 35 kW license must complete the training by only performing module 3 (4 hours). Candidates for the A 35 kW license cannot complete the basic practical training with vehicles of the A1 subcategory. Direct access to the unlimited A category is no longer possible, and one must wait 2 years from obtaining the A 35 kW category. Minimum age for category A 35 kW 18 years : Motor vehicles with an engine power not exceeding 35 kW and a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.20 kW/kg.
