Valentina Benassi - Benny Pottery

Via Pedemonte 2, 6962 Viganello
Valentina Benassi - Benny Pottery - Ceramic Artist - Lugano

In my studio in Viganello, ceramics becomes much more than an art form: it’s a fusion of passion, tradition, and innovation. Each piece I create is the result of a unique experience, a process that blends the ancient craft of ceramics with contemporary trends. Clay , shaped by hand, tells the story of its maker, and it’s this story that I want to share with those who enter my creative world. With a degree in Ceramic Design and over 15 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of furthering my knowledge through courses and workshops in Switzerland , Italy , and Japan , where I refined traditional techniques and explored innovative approaches. This continuous commitment to learning allows me to offer my clients not only unique pieces but also a high-quality artistic experience that goes beyond simple creation: it’s an opportunity for personal growth. In my studio , I create sculptures , home decor items, ceramic jewelry , and functional objects like plates , cups , vases , and much more. Each piece is born from aesthetic exploration and the intent to combine design with functionality. Every creation is unique, designed to reflect not only my artistic research but also the needs of those who approach me in search of something special and one-of-a-kind. If you are looking for an object that tells a unique story, something you won’t find anywhere else, my studio is the perfect place to bring your idea to life. One of the most important aspects of my work is teaching . I offer ceramic courses for both beginners and advanced levels, for adults and children. Each course is tailored to meet individual expectations, allowing each participant to experience something that goes beyond technique. The courses are organized flexibly, both private and group sessions, and take place not only in my studio in Lugano but also in other locations when needed, where I hold workshops for anyone who wants to discover the world of ceramics. Each class is an opportunity to experiment and release creativity, exploring together techniques such as modeling, throwing, decoration, and glazing. For me, the art of ceramics is a means of communication, a way to express emotions and ideas through the hands. In this process, clay becomes the medium through which we rediscover the joy of creating something with both body and mind in an increasingly fast-paced and virtual world. My goal is for each participant to experience a creative and meditative journey that encourages concentration and personal expression. Custom commissions are one of my specialties. Whether it's creating an exclusive object for the home , designing pieces for restaurants , or crafting personalized gift items , each request is handled with the utmost care and attention. Every custom project begins with a dialogue with the client, translating their ideas and desires into ceramics, creating something truly unique. Collaborating with artisans, interior designers , and restaurants allows me to develop exclusive artisanal projects, creating unique and functional decor solutions. I work closely with clients to ensure that every piece perfectly meets their needs, combining the beauty of ceramics with modern, functional design, intended to enrich spaces and everyday experiences. In my studio , it’s not only about the creation of objects, but also about building a community. I am a member of local and international ceramic and artisan associations, and by participating in events and fairs, I strive to promote ceramics as a form of cultural and creative expression. These collaborations are key to creating a link between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design, enhancing ceramic heritage in a modern way. If you wish to explore your creativity through a ceramics course or commission unique pieces for your home , business , or as a special gift , my studio is the ideal place to experience the passion for craftsmanship, excellence, and innovation. Every project is designed to offer you a unique experience, balancing tradition and contemporary design. I look forward to seeing you! Valentina

Montessori Happy Kids

Chemin de Compostelle 10, 1212 Grand-Lancy
An innovative bilingual school to learn and grow differently

Education as an aid to life. Happy Kids, a private Montessori school in Lancy (Geneva), welcomes children aged 3 to 6 in a bilingual, stimulating and caring environment, to give them the keys to tomorrow's world. Each child receives individual and caring support to help them develop their full potential and reveal all their talents. Happy Kids Montessori School is a school open to the world. Throughout the year, we offer educational activities for children and adults. What do we learn in a Montessori class? The Montessori Happy Kids school offers an active, solution-focused education, encouraging pupils' autonomy to build their own resources and collaborate on joint projects while respecting others and the environment. Montessori Happy Kids offers a wide range of activities to help children acquire all the fundamental skills (reading, writing, mathematics, etc.), as well as discovering the world through lessons in history, geography, science, technology and the arts. How does bilingualism work? Learning a foreign language from a very early age makes it easier to achieve bilingualism and promotes all aspects of cognitive development, while giving children a way of opening up to the world. ● The presence of 2 teachers per class, one French-speaking and the other English-speaking, enables pupils to follow the syllabus of the Plan d'Etude Romand in both languages. ● Fun activities in all areas of learning are offered in English, depending on the level of each child. The English-speaking teacher also participates in the children's daily life activities (mealtimes, dressing, naps) to anchor the learning of this language in concrete situations. ● Children are encouraged to speak English, through individual or small group interactions with the English-speaking teacher. Do you assess your pupils? In a Montessori school, assessment is not a tool used to classify children, still less to put them in competition with each other. Daily observation of the children by the teachers is a very powerful tool for adapting teaching to the specific needs of each child. The progress, difficulties and successes of each child are noted every day in order to define the most appropriate and effective work plan possible. Two parent/teacher meetings are organised each year to discuss each child's progress. What happens to children after a 3-6 Montessori? There is no single answer to the question of what happens to children after attending a 3-6 Montessori class, as this depends on a number of individual factors such as their aspirations, their subsequent school career and their environment. However, in general, children who have been educated in Montessori tend to develop skills such as autonomy, curiosity, the ability to learn independently and self-confidence, which can help them to succeed in their later school and working lives. Montessori education also encourages self-discovery and problem-solving, which can help children become critical and creative thinkers later in life. Children can continue their education in any type of school system (Swiss, French, international, etc.).
